This is a good start. But Canada also doesn’t have major interstates like the US does. Which can limit travel and transport. This is a canary for much of their infrastructure.
Its immigration policies don’t favor engineers, it does favor welders, farmers, and those in the oil field. The pay in many engineering fields is lower than the US, while the COL is way higher.
I’d be happy to move to Canada, but I don’t qualify. Despite making high-six figures, despite 12+ years of Seniority, etc etc. As someone who grew up next to the US/Canada border it blows my mind. I qualify for residency in Europe, Japan, and South American countries. But not Canada.
