Chemistry.

Posted by Tulpamemnon

I'm late to THIS party. I am finally watching "Man on Fire". The astonishing Denzel Washington doing that smaltzy thing with Dakota Fanning. And behind it all, Tony Scott, with little time left and all the sadness to come. A tour De force. A relaxed homage to all the Flawed Strongman films before, via Tony's and Ridley's Video history. I love it.

Man on Fire is one of those movies where Denzel just makes you forget you're watching a movie. The chemistry between him and Dakota Fanning is honestly unreal.

She's a little force of nature to be sure. And he just OOZES acting generosity.

Excellent movie from start to finish.  Another fun one to bring up when people ask about movies with huge discrepancies in critic score and audience score on RT (39% vs 89%).

That's a great notion! I am a boy, (70. But still a boy) so I'll be looking out for those collectibles!!

It really is some kind of pop art masterpiece. Deja vous, domino and man on fire have such a particular and unique vibe... I really don't care about the plots or the acting... It's just an incredible spectacle and unexpected way to construct a film.

Personally, I've always liked the 1987 original much more.

I prefer the original Scott Glenn version too. I hated Tony Scott's remake. Just a terrible movie with two good central performances,

I love this movie! I hope the new series is even half as good.

Good timing! I literally just put on 1998’s Enemy of the State, another badass Tony Scott flick. I used to watch it all the time as a kid

I remember Tony Scott saying they had a take of the final exchange where the volcano in background has a mini eruption right as Denzel dies. They thought it was the best shot ever, but when they put it in the film he said it looked completely fake, even though it actually happened.
