Chiang Kai shek is spinning so fast in his grave right now that he could generate enough electricity to power the entire island of Taiwan

Chiang Kai-shek was a Chinese nationalist who would hate to see the eternal separation of Taiwan from the mainland. China isn't even Maoist anymore and is a great power. What exactly would Chiang Kai-shek disapprove of here?

The historical irony of the Kuomintang buddying up to the CCP after fighting a decades-long civil war against them is absolutely wild

The KMT are Chinese nationalists, so ultimately they share a one-China vision as the CCP. The KMT want to maintain their cultural and historical link to the mainland.
There are actually factions of the KMT in the CCP - the RCCK. The RCCK was the left-wing arm of the KMT that stayed behind after the civil war.

The irony. Though there are similar parties/factions like this in history, and also currently.

Chiang Kai shek was a patriot. He definitely hate the DPP Taiwan separatists more than the communists today.

He was a fascist dictator who treated the Taiwanese people worse than the Japanese. At least the Japanese built infrastructure. The KMT just stole land and slaughtered people on mass.

The Japanese used Taiwan as a model economy, the Japanese were not altruistic.

This doesn't make it less ironic to the modern KMT

KMT and CPC fought Japanese before, nothing irony to fight their spiritual successor.

Lol go read a book or two. CKS greatly admired the Japanese and he wanted to exterminate the CPP first.

Find it ironic how the Koumintang, the very faction that lost mainland China to the CCP and retreated to Taiwan, is now the one that's being close to the CCP.

I’ve always thought a united China was the goal for kmt and ccp. The question was who was going to be in charge.

Many Listnookors know very little about Chinese history, only what they see on TV.

It's like a family feud, they may hate each other, but they do not deny they are not Chinese. Those views have softened over time of course.
