What if someone commits a crime with this thing in their brain and they claim they unexplainably lost control?

If we’re going by precedent, take all the parties involved, the person, the brain chip maker, the doctor, and the victim of said crime.
Figure out who has the least ~~money~~ party loyalty, and they lose.
Edit: Apparently this is only for the Chinese market.

Not true in China really they will execute executives who are corrupt or do bad work that ends up harming the people they’re supposed to serve.

That makes China/the party look bad, causes a scandal, or are wealthy enough to think they are above all that. That is when people are executed to my understanding.

I think it makes them look good because they hold their billionaires accountable.

China has done a few high profile executions for corruption. It has not done anything to actually root out the absolutely pervasive corruption in its government. They use selective enforcement to ensure no one goes against the people in power.

As long as those people are willing act like they're Han and loyal to the regime. It's an expansionist assimilationist state.
1
CaptainbuttramMar 17, 2026
I think countries in the periphery of US empire are obligated to have more censorship. Otherwise US will try to propagandize and send cia assets to your country and sow discontent. Kind of like that expansionist assimilationist state you’re talking about lol
Who is the one doing regime change across the world right now? US or China?

It's for quadriplegic patients, so most likely it would be a case of a device they were using the chip to control and whether it malfunctioned or did the thing they intended. Might be a bit tough to convince a jury if you carried out an elaborate murder.

From the article that you probably won't read
> Neural’s approved product targets quadriplegic patients aged 16 to 60 years old who cannot use their hands due to cervical nerve injuries from accidents. A small ‘brain chip’ the size of a coin is implanted in the head, reading brain signals. When a patient thinks about grabbing an object while wearing a robotic glove, the glove moves to grasp it.
> Clinical trial results are promising. According to Neural, all 36 patients who participated in the trials could grasp specific objects simply by thinking. Most patients reportedly controlled the machine independently at home within a month post-surgery.
Hope it does well, and brings more accessability to those with disabilities.

Shame I have to scroll down this far to see someone actually caring about and addressing what tech like this can do to uplift the disabled instead of going "this thing bad cuz of scary movie I saw. Oog."
I'm legally blind and I consider tech like this as a step closer to people like me hopefully having access to bionic eyes that interface with the brain and optic nerve stem in the future.

USC had managed to create a vision implant, the Argus, that enabled some users to navigate a new room they'd never been in previously.
Sadly the program was abruptly halted and users had their hardware abruptly went dead with no company there to maintain the software or hardware.

not sure why you’re being downvoted. there are so many families absolutely desperate for technology like this. people might want to try seeing a loved one fully conscious yet unable to do anything and see how they feel about this tech then.

"I think, and my thoughts cross the barrier into the synapses of the machine, just as the good doctor intended. But what I cannot shake, and what hints at things to come, is that thoughts cross back. In my dreams, the sensibilities of the machine invades the periphery of my consciousness. Dark. Rigid. Cold. Alien. Evolution is at hand - but just what is evolving, remains to be seen."
