Practice run?
The restricted zones cover approximately 73,000 square kilometers, about twice the size of Taiwan.
"Analysts suggest this may be a rehearsal for "Area Access/Area Denial" (A2/AD) strategies, essentially practicing how to block foreign intervention (specifically the U.S. Navy) from entering the region during a conflict."
"By imposing such a long ban, China may be trying to "normalize" its presence in international waters, making it harder for neighbors to distinguish between a routine exercise and actual mobilization for conflict."

To have peace, prepare for war?
Or is it not OK if China does it

That user REALLY likes to spam those lines(even making it sound like North Korea being a dictatorial state as just "YeLlow PeRil").
There are also hints that user is defensive/praiseful of Ruzzia.

They've got decades worth of data from from the recent US/Israel/Iran conflict and I bet they're running simulations and live testing of their drones and drone defense capabilities in major cities.

Xi would be an idiot if he didn’t try for Taiwan while there’s an easily manipulated cry baby in the Whitehouse.

Xi would be an idiot to try take Taiwan by force. People spreading such theories have zero understanding how China works and thinks.

People think Taiwan is like across the beach from China but its all open water warfare we're talking about. An amphibious invasion is literally the hardest military maneuver to ever to pull off i.e. D-Day especially when said island has been specifically fortified to prevent that exact scenario from happening; a peaceful takeover over decades of influence campaigns is their highest chance of success. Taiwan already has political parties calling for closer ties to China so Xi would be big dumb to say f*** all that noise we're doing this by force because orange man probably won't care.

A mix of a grey warfare pressure campaign plus backroom dealings with the Trump admin (i.e. we’ll make you and your family rich while guaranteeing the US a supply of high quality chips in return for not intervening) is a possible third option that could easily be framed with MAGA rhetoric.

I never said by force. But he isn’t building a military and landing craft for nothing.
Regardless, Xi would be an idiot not take advantage of the moron who is in the Whitehouse.

You're right, it's not for nothing. But their intention is taking it peacefully, as in have them decide its not worth fighting. For that they need a credible threat. If they don't have that, they can't make an offer Taiwan can't refuse. Its not hard to believe they'd much rather take it without a fight than having to actually commit to a war.
Sun Tzu said that the greatest victory is the one that requires no battle at all. They're going for that.

Of course. And Xi would be an idiot not to do it while the moron is in the Whitehouse.

What exactly would Xi trying to take Taiwan accomplish? It’d cost a lot, leave tsmc in rubble, and result in an unpleasant response from non Taiwanese entities, eg the US choking China out of their oil supply

Xi has more to lose than gain. If he succeeds, he's ruling over a pile of rubble and a populace that hates him, not to mention the international fallout. If he loses, what's to stop Taiwan from declaring independence? Not to mention the future of the party in such a scenario or the long list of enemies he's created because of the purges and corruption crackdowns. Invading Taiwan is a huge gamble, personally and for the future of the party.
That and it's not 1944. The whole world will know that an invasion is eminent, and Taiwan isn't Ukraine. He can't have a protracted land war, and hope that time will be on his side.

The only people calling for China to take Taiwan seems to come from the west.
China controls both supply and demand of products in Asia. Their economic threat is much stronger than their military. There is absolutely no reason why China will waste resources trying to do an invasion. They aren't the US that thrives during a war. Their war industry isn't even that big or developed like the US. If anything, the US benefits from this war, giving them excuses for their weapons industry to sell

Why would they make an entire island hate them? The country that seems to be the best at learning from mistakes woulldnt learn from Russia v Ukraine, America v Iraq/Afghanistsan, America/Israel vs Iran?
Its taboo to mention, but there was a significant amount of Russophilia in Ukraine before 2014, thats way down now, including with native russian speakers and those opposed to zelensky. Why would China through away their unprecedented good will they now have from the taiwanese and end up with a decimated island that will hate them for generations with all its strategic assets destroyed.
Even if you think China is evil, you cant pretend they're stupid.

He would be an idiot to try. War is hard. The US is peerless, easily the best military in the world and is having difficulties with Iran.
Taiwan is tougher than Iran.
