Chinese citizens that registered the company in Singapore, yet still can't evade the stretched out Loofy grip of their motherland.

Didn't seem to stop the US from seizing tiktok.

The scandal wasn't the seizure. The scandal was handing it to oligarchs to turn into a rightwing propaganda tool.

Deserved, the Chinese should not have to sell it.

Sure, but it should have been banned in the US if they refused.

China does this to every single foreign company operating in China. The US forcing TikTok’s sale was simply a taste of china’s own medicine.

Care to provide any examples of China forcing the US to sell US companies to China?

Most of the time if you want to build a factory in China requires companies to have a Chinese majority partner. This how they get access to valuable intellectual property.

But it's not the same thing as forcing that company to sell itself to a Chinese company.

They were not forced to sell. Tiktok also got the option to be completely banned similar to facebook and some google services.

The US literally passed a law saying sell or get banned. Facebook and google were not told to sell their companies to China.

China under their China for China/made in china 2025 policies force foreign companies in key industries (like medical or automotive) to manufacture there or use a high percentage of components made in china if they want to sell in the Chinese market

Which isn't the samething as China forcing the company to sell itself to a Chinese company.

You do know that the only USA did that was because it was airing the things Israel was doing right? USA has rule of law. It didnt want to force TikTok to sell but Israel made them.

That's even worse.

lol what? Is there any kind of proof of this conspiracy or are you just spouting shit out of your ass? I don’t understand why everyone thinks a small country in the Middle East controls the strongest superpower in history.

It started off as a Chinese company registered in China before the founders registered it in Singapore even though they still live in Beijing.

They moved from China to Singapore in last year before the sale.

If the unwinding actually happens then yes, probably with costs on top. Which would be a disaster for the owners, since the deal happened months ago and Meta has had acess to the IP and has already transfered much of he top level staff over.

>Which would be a disaster for the owners, since the deal happened months ago and Meta has had acess to the IP and has already transfered much of he top level staff over. A disaster for Manus, a gift to Meta given they already got access to the IP. If Meta already has the IP I don't see the point in quashing this deal.

Yeah pretty much, plus I'm not sure about this but it seems like Meta would be in a strong position to ask for compensation for the cost of unwinding the merger.

Good luck with that when they're gonna be under house arrest for the next decade.

Seems like every nation will be attempting to build and keep their own AI's in-house. America got a lot of benefit for being the 'first' to the web, and it clear countries are paying more attention this time around.
