Reminder that Cook islanders are New Zealand citizens and have New Zealand passports. They need to act like it. New Zealand has enough greedy people selling rights and land to China.

Cooks Island is in charge of their own foreign policy and doesn't need permission I'm getting big "My SO belongs to me and they need to act like it by doing what I say" vibes from your comment.

You a Kiwi? Maybe they should renounce citizenship and have their own passport, and not get free healthcare and all the other benefits instead of making dumbass decisions that affect the rest of us that actually live in Aotearoa. Lol the ex SO is allowed to do anything she wants but should give up her/his house keys to my house and stop eating my food.

Honestly doesn't sound too different to the deal we already had. They were always suppose to consult with us before doing stuff. Hence the stink to begin with.

Seeing the Cooks co-operating with us again is a good outcome. I would hope our government uses this as an opportunity to do more for not just the Cooks but other Pacific island nations too. Also slightly odd that China didn't just try and replace us with cash overnight. Perhaps it's on the agenda but part of a 100 year plan.

There were protests from the locals aginst their PM's decisions with China. I'm sure China tried to pay him off
