Problem with flying cars is the airspace gets jammed real fast. Also nobody wants a hundred flying cars over their heads all the time. I do see a future for them in emergency services. They would make far superior ambulances for example. Also we could limit their number per city and let rich people bid on the permits. Finance local government that way.

One of the leading eVTOL companies Joby focused on getting the noise levels down. Once they’re above a few hundred metres you’ll barely hear them. They will have specific flight paths and it’s not like cars are silent.

If these were widely available they'd have to be autonomous. The parking situation would also be a nightmare

Agreed. They will 100% be autonomous eventually. It may take some time for people to become comfortable with that. As soon as we reach that point parking becomes almost irrelevant as they would drip you off and then leave for their next pickup.

And they cost a couple million to buy, tens of thousands per month to maintain and require pilots that typically have 5-10 years plus training and experience. Most *regions* can only afford 1 or 2 Air Ambulances, if any! Having *multiple* fast response air units at EVERY hospital, that cost $50-100k and can be piloted (either semi of fully autonomously) by basically anyone would be a huge deal! Especially in remote/hilly/island type areas!

Yes I’ve googled it and I’m seeing pictures of cars with rotors which immediately begs the question: how can these things operate any cheaper than conventional helicopters? That’s before we consider the regulatory nightmare these things will be to actually operate in the “real world”. You can safely bet that most if not all countries will require a trained pilot to fly these things (because truly what makes this so different to a helicopter that it *wouldn’t* require a pilot in the eyes of the law?), suddenly the advantages dwindle somewhat. Unless you can present a silver bullet to change my mind, I’ll continue to hold this belief.

Indeed. But once there’s (hopefully) 100’s of thousands of hours of flight time without any deaths the rest of the world will start to pay attention. Like all new technology someone has to pave the way. US and UK governments have already announced eVtols will be under new less stringent regulations

It's not an F-35. It's a flying car. Imagine a really big drone. That's what Xpeng and a bunch of other companies are working on.

You already have an F-35 that takes off without a runway. It's the F-35B. There are 3 classes of the F 35s.

Yeah, Ik that. That's why I used the F-35 bcuz to my knowledge that is the only fixed wing aircraft capable of VTOL. Having a rotor just makes it un-car-esque to me.
