Putting the climate aside for a brief second, considering how gas prices are getting jacked up....the f****** balls of an oil company right now to openly be like "YAY, WINDFALL PROFITS!!"

Why would climate activists disapprove of high gas prices? For their purposes the higher the better. In California EV sales were flat until gas skyrocketed. Now they're up again.

A windfall for oil companies is ammunition against green energy. Why? What do you think oil and gas companies do w record profits? Apart from enriching shareholders they buy politicians, lobby, buy small green companies and shelve their tech.

Why don't we pool our money and buy farmland and power them with renewable technology?

That's not how it works. Just because petrol is more expensive I'm not just going to dunk 30k € into a new EV. I can still afford more expensive petrol, I absolutely can't afford a new expensive EV to save few cents per liter. All higher prices cause is petrol companies raking in obscene profits in such times because whole thing is just a speculative jacking up of price and not actual increase. Not to mention a lot of companies have nothing to do with this strait but they jack up prices because everyone did.

Not describing how you think it works. Commenting on news reports of spiked sales. Personally, I don't think those buyers know how to do the math.

Too many activists don't understand the economics around whatever they're protesting. This is like getting angry at an umbrella vendor because he made a windfall during a monsoon.

More like people are yelling about a monsoon coming, the umbrella vendor knows it's only likely to be a light sprinkle and he has already plans in place to deal with shortages he forcasts to only effect around 10% of umbrella supply, but taking advantage of the yelling he raised his prices over 100% over night, and no one has the balls or the leverage to anything but moan about how much cash the c*** made. For his next neat party trick he'll chuck that cash under one of a couple of cups and swirl them about his table until that cash ends up straight in his pocket tax free

How much did this Dutch company contribute to Trump's 'inauguration ceremony'.

Some how gas increased 50% within minutes of news speculation, before inventory was impacted. And if Iran only controls 20%, how does that correlate to. 50-100% increases? Lastly, if the USA produces the most oil in the world, how about we nationalize 20% to offset the war and costs we caused?

Hahahahahahahaha “The evidence we have reviewed shows that Shell repeatedly encouraged the Nigerian military to deal with community protests, even when it knew the horrors this would lead to – unlawful killings, r***, torture, the burning of villages,” [https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/press-release/2017/11/investigate-shell-for-complicity-in-murder-r***-and-torture/](https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/press-release/2017/11/investigate-shell-for-complicity-in-murder-r***-and-torture/) Furthermore lol [https://socialistworker.co.uk/in-depth/how-shell-profits-from-disaster-and-war/](https://socialistworker.co.uk/in-depth/how-shell-profits-from-disaster-and-war/)
