Unless it makes Congress hold him accountable it could literally be negative and not matter.

Also.. his approval rating can flip overnight like the Dow if he wants to.

He wishes. The approval ratings are slow to move and never going back up

I hope the Americans expressing disapproval now who either voted Republican in 2024 or stayed home are real proud of themselves. A combined 69% of our adult society. There’s significant overlap here. They can’t say they weren’t warned.

We have the same article every week.

Wake me when support amongst Republicans significantly drops

Won't happen. The support is now the cult and people who get their news from Joe Rogan. It will be a very slow bleed.

It has already. But it's less obvious because they tend to switch flags after abandoning ship. It takes time for polls to pick up on that.

Casual MAGA is gone. Dedicated MAGA is slinking towards the exits. All he has left are the hard-core white christian nationalists who love Project 2025. That’s still like 15% of the population, but it isn’t enough to win elections. Oh, and if he succeeds in getting this mythical 3rd term, my milquetoast middle-class lilly-white ass is going full 2A/Wolverines! mode.

I mean his approval is 33%, seems like that's a lot more than 15%.

Approval doesn't mean they will vote. The key is to build up an enthusiastic voter bloc.

Give it some time. It takes a while for news to trickle down and then polls to register changes.

I mean the article literally tells us it is 100% more than 15%.

I prefer to think of it as actual patriotism. I didn’t spend 12 years in the military to watch it all go poof in a cloud of apathy. I’m happy in my day to day life, I just don’t enjoy watching the world catch fire for one mans ego.

Wake me when it's lower than the Mariana Trench

LoL. I think he used that exact phrase last week.

I would expect their "data guru" to make a comparison that makes sense. That one doesn't.

Death Valley has the lowest point in North America. 282 feet below sea level.

Why not?

The ‘data guru’ should definitely opt for prose over poetry

He could have surrounded himself with good people and escaped this presidency with something resembling a legacy. All the money in the world can’t buy what he will lose now.

boejouma Apr 1, 2026 +3
What we will lose now.** That is to say humanity. Not just Americans.

Harry Enten is an alumnus of fivethirtyeight, but now whenever I see one of these headlines about "CNN's data guru" I just see a clown dancing around trying to get attention. I know in advance it's going to be Harry.
