RFK slammed for ‘hanging out shirtless in hot tub with Kid Rock’
A California Democrat has criticized Robert F Kennedy Jr for his remarks about vaccines, accusing the Health and Human Services Secretary of having the wrong priorities. Rep. Linda Sanchez tore into RFK Jr as he testified before the House Ways and Means Committee on Thursday (16 April). "You suspended this pro-vaccine messaging campaign, but somehow you're spending taxpayer dollars to drink milk shirtless in a hot tub with Kid Rock. And somehow you think that's a better public health message," Sanchez said, referencing a recent video of RFK with the MAGA musician. “You’ve got a lot of misinformation there,” Kennedy fired back. “We’ve done better at preventing measles than any country in the world.”

Hanging out in a hot tub with kid rock sounds like a good way to catch something you probably should have been vaccinated for.

Without reading the article or knowing the context I'm gonna go ahead and guess that the milk is non-pasteurized? Cause that is an absolute bonkers beverage for drinking a hot tub for any reason but I'm supposed they're trying to make some sort of goofy-ass point

I remember once I was talking with a friend who didn' himself drink, or advocate for, raw milk (he didn't care enough to have too much of an opinion), but he felt I went a little too far when I said "Why don't I just buy some normal 2% from the store and take a shit in it, it's basically the same thing." He goes, "oh come on, I'm sure they at least clean the milk before they bottle it. It's not going to have cow shit in it." I'm like, "how do you think they clean the milk? How do you think they get ALL of the fecal bacteria out?"

I think this was their "whole milk" push. I honestly believe it was intended to be a raw milk push, but then they heard actual data on how many kids would die and they hard pivoted to something that didn't make any sense. There is no "war on whole milk" as they pretend

Maybe whole milk with lactose. I’ve been noticing a lot more people are drinking the lactaid in the grocery stores lately. We’ve been drinking it since my youngest was a baby because she’s intolerant & we realized it not only tastes better, it lasts longer (we actually will all feel like c*** if we drink lactose milk now weird enough)
3
SomebodyElseAsWell 2 days ago +4
Lactaid lasts longer because it's ultra pasteurized. Same for organic milk.

Couldn’t agree more. We as American have been way to complacent with our legislators for far too long. Allowing way to much big business money to influence how votes go. We need to hold all incumbents accountable democrats and republicans alike. Then they need to correct the industries that they allowed to absolutely take advantage of the American people for years now.

Most HHS secretaries are not medical practitioners by trade because the skills required to run a large government department are different than the skills required to be a good doctor. That said, most of them prior to RFK Jr. weren't actively trying to dismantle public health in this country and actually listened to the respected healthcare professionals that worked for them.
27
Coca-colonization 2 days ago +20
The problem is *not* that RFK Jr. is not a medical doctor or scientist. RFK’s *ideological stances* regarding medicine, science, and policy are the problem. The Secretary of Health and Human Services does not need to be a medical doctor. It is not a requirement for the job. Most HHS Secretaries *have not been doctors.* It is more important that subordinate positions have medical or public health degrees (Assistant Secretary for Health, Surgeon General, heads of the various agencies and divisions) and that has generally been the case. HHS Secretary is a politically-appointed Executive branch administrative job. They oversee department budget requests and the implementation of the presidential administration’s priorities. Some experience with health or social welfare administration or policymaking is an asset but not a necessity. They are expected to take advice from doctors and other relevant experts within and outside the government in the development of policy. This is where we are seeing the breakdown. It’s not his lack of training. It’s where he is getting his advice and why.

3
BooBeeAttack 2 days ago +3
Sadly all these positions are just picked without relevant credentials or experience needed. It's a huge problem, especially given the weight of the position and its ramifications on everyone based on their actions. And NO ONE directly votes in people to these positions, they are selected by the president. So it can be pretty much whomever they decide. Even if they have zero qualifications. These positions need more checks and balances and should probably be chosen by the people directly. Sorry for my soapboxing.
3

While I get where she’s coming from, this all seems performative. No one is shocked by the trashy alpha male bravado and attitudes coming from anyone in this administration. I’m always feeling like I’m back in 2004 or something with these people. I haven’t watched the whole thing, but I hope she “blasted him” for the rise in easily preventable measles and rotavirus cases across the country, or the uptick in maternal sickness and deaths from drinking raw milk while pregnant. Things he’s confidently encouraged even though evidence based science and literal history show that vaccines work, and that we pasteurize milk so people don’t get sick.

From the article: “You’ve got a lot of misinformation there,” Kennedy fired back. “We’ve done better at preventing measles than any country in the world.” Facts: The US had eliminated endemic measles by the year 2000. In 2025 the US recorded over 2200 cases of measles, rising another 1000 by early 2026. The most in 30 years, all attributed to falling vaccination rates.
