Some of his "modern" lyrics:
Weirdos trying to change the world
Telling girls they're boys
And boys, they're girls
It's like trying to tell us a ham and cheese
Is a peanut butter sandwich
Well, you don't get ham and cheese
From a peanut butter jar
And you don't confuse and abuse the children
This time, they've gone too far
Yes and there's disorder down on the border
Yeah troubles like we've never seen before
Oh there's disorder down on the border
Oh they're turning our border into a revolving door
Well when we complain about the situation
They scream we're anti-immigration

Isn't not even Gallagher but his brother? Like he licensed his likeness to his brother who never even told jokes but just smashed fruit? Something like that, I didn't keep up.

I think OG Gallagher ended up as like some Right-Wing hack comedian in his later years. The Brother Vs. Brother saga was something else. I could research this, but I don't really feel like deep-diving into Gallagher lore at the moment. Whatever else can be said, the guy could smash the hell out of a watermelon and that's how I want to remember him.

Yeah, me too! When I was really little, he was my jam. Watching his videos. Also, loving music (I turned into a musician, go figure) but, which was the.... it was at a funeral home I think and the song was about the guy coming back to life or whatever and it got all "scary" and stuff. That was one of my favorites.
Also, the It's Me Again Margret too, lol... granted... could be problematic now, lol... which I can understand why, lol. But I just remember him being a creeper and calling her and being like "I'm gonna get a weed-eater, chicken feathers, whipped cream" ect, lol. Granted these are like 35 year old memories so I am sure I could be misremembering. Either way, love Ray. Hope he heals well. He brought me such joy and song to sing and visuals too.
Edited: Just to clean my jumbled mess of words up a little, lol. Also, spelt "Yeaj" instead of "Yeah" right out of the gate, lol.

One of his newest songs:
Well, now, things are strange at my old alma mater
They're changing things that they might not oughta
And you can call me an old fuddy-duddy, I guess
But, they threw out teaching the ABC's
Added CRT, and new biology
And you can't deny what they call "amazing progress"
Especially, since Bubba changed his name to Charlene
Went out, enjoying the girls' swimming team
Well, now, we've won every race
Broke every record in the state
And that beats anything I've ever seen

He's racist garbage
Yeah come to the USA
There's no penalty to pay
Should you get caught illegally immigratin'
Come to the USA
It will be your lucky day
'Cause when you get in there's lots of goodies waitin'
Like Healthcare, Welfare, Free Education
Help with your Voter Registration
And drivers license and credit cards
And license plates for your old car
Lots of jobs for you to do
And employers who'll turn a blind eye too
Come to the USA!
No need to worry about the Constitution
We'll help you start a house of prostitution
Heres another
Weirdos trying to change the world
Telling girls they're boys
And boys, they're girls
It's like trying to tell us a ham and cheese
Is a peanut butter sandwich
Well, you don't get ham and cheese
From a peanut butter jar
And you don't confuse and abuse the children
This time, they've gone too far
Yes and there's disorder down on the border
Yeah troubles like we've never seen before

He was neighbors in Nashville with Webb Pierce and had a famous feud with him, because Webb had a standing invitation for his fans to tour his house and grounds (and guitar-shaped swimming pool). Ray Stevens would stand in his driveway and holler at the tour busses.

But, that's no reason to disparage another artist. Especially one who doesn't even do parody songs, just original novelty songs.

I honestly think his [“Misty”](https://youtu.be/dSO8IzLkkts) is my favorite thing he contributed to music, and I grew up loving his comedy songs as a kid. But he cracked some kind of code with Misty.
Took a sleepy jazz standard that has been covered by [Frank Sinatra](https://youtu.be/wyT49GxW-Ps), [Ella Fitzgerald](https://youtu.be/rPOlakkBlj8), [Marty Robbins](https://youtu.be/4Juq0IYDhK8), and on and on and on, and by turning it into a jaunty bluegrass tune brought a lively energy to it that can’t really be found in those other versions.
