Is he "defending" Wile E. Coyote? Because the entire premise from the trailer is that the Coyote is suing Acme

Crappy article title had me confused after watching the trailer. The legal form is always Plaintiff v. Defendant. So Will Forte isn’t defending Mr. Coyote; he’s litigating on his behalf against Acme.

You’re absolutely right, but the serious tone in your comment has me rolling

I can get behind this if they stick to extreme jurisprudence ala my cousin Vinny

It did, but there was such an uproar, they decided to release it.

It went through a whole bunch of arbitration, arguments, people hired/fired, being shelved out of pure pettiness and disagreements lol. Can’t remember why it was revisited and eventually made, but even during production artists and execs bumped heads over deadlines and cutting corners. We eventually got it, but we never got any of the extended universe or merch planned because of all the hell during From what I remember, dreamworks studios were basically birthed from two of the creators who were greatly wronged in process, which is why there are so many jabs at disney in Shrek.

Good premise. Will Forte. John Cena. I dig it.

Am I glad this is getting released, allowing the work of the team that made it to be seen? Absolutely. That said……. I really don’t like the fact that they went with 3D animation instead of 2D. There’s a ton of places where the characters look incredibly off-model, and maybe it doesn’t affect anyone else but it really took me out of the moment in a few places

I’m a massive sucker for mixed media stuff (I really enjoyed the Rescue Rangers movie too) so Im pleasantly surprised by this.

Is there anything that was once cool that the film industry can't make suck?

I mean, yeah. A lot of us were on board with it, but then it was shelved, and that was upsetting. Heck, a guy wore a coyote costume out in the rain protesting its cancellation! Three years later, and it's alive with actual marketing in place now!

This movie shall be measured against Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers rather than roger rabbit for me. It’s terrible that none of the movie reviewers appear to have seen C&D, which is far superior to Roger Rabbit, but insist RR is their baseline. Atrocious. C&D is the best animation/live action crossover since RR.
