This a shakedown not a negotiation, the USA starved out the country to get them to the table.

I also dont understand what is being negotiated, the US hasnt had trade with Cuba since the 60s, by the US's choice, theyve now just been illegally blocking them with trading with the rest of the world. This is clearly just another exploitation theft play.

the negotiation is you break off relations with russia iran and china or you die. its not about trade

And then what will the USA do??? What do they want? THE USA BROKE RELATIONS 60 years ago.

not kill the leadership and drive the entire population of the island back to the stone age with an oil blockade when their grid runs on oil.

The us wants them to break off relations with Russia, Iran, and China.

The US, explicitly, wants a regime change. It's been official US policy for decades that the sanctions are meant to bring about such desperation in the Cuban population that it will force them to overthrow their own government to get relief.

What they always wanted to do, a regime change, so they can say Capitalism won and Communism failed.

That’s a called an ultimatum…also the USA just let Russia off the hook on all sanctions.
Edit - when did Cuba have a relationship with Iran ???

This such an irrational reach for the next couples days insert “Iran” to justify anything.
Just to be clear trump doesn’t give a f*** about the Iranian people, Cubans or even Americans that aren’t in the Epstein class.

It's just payback for negotiating with Obama
7

It's the same as it was with Iran. The administration makes no clear demands, sends no specialists to do the negotiating, and expect some sort of nebulous deal which I can only assume has come to mean a personal kickback.

Don't think so.
Cuba is unlike either Iran or Venezuela in that it has no oil.
The Miami crowd are nowhere as influential as AIPAC and other pro-zionist businesses.
You need to also account for all the Russian military assets deployed in Cuba and Putin's ascendancy over Trump.
As well as the always stronger US aversion to even the possibility of a new wave of refugees going to the US, an absolutely predictable scenario prior and post intervention.

I'm not convinced by this. These are all rational and valid reasons not to do the stupidest f****** thing possible, which is what Trump always seems to do.

The US usually targets other countries for one of two major reasons.
1. Oil
2. Communism
It has been the modus operandi of the US since WW2 to stop the spread of Communism. Any country that didn't want to bend over to the US and adopt Capitalism and give trade benefits to the US felt the anger of the US.
Cuba is their shame, as they didn't manage to get rid of Castro, despite many attempts. Many old school Americans still want to beat Cuba, even when there is no oil in it. Just so they can say Capitalism won.

chemicalmacondoMar 16, 2026

the way I see it, US administrations have successively tried, one or another way, to get rid of Castro -without riling up the Soviets then and the Russians now.
It has been nearly 70 years of just not trying hard enough, or, not doing anything major or beyond covert operations they do not have to own.

They've got Lindsey Graham, that loyal political w****, screaming 'intervention now' all over fox news and newsmax precisely because even the ongoing blockade is not popular other than with Trump's base.

Well Cuba was pretty shit anyway (and going downhill) and that comes from people who lived there. What you are saying would only be an upgrade.

Mafia c***** is an upgrade from absolute shithole, even if it doesn't sound like it. At least the area would make some kind of money to start building themselves up.

The art of the deal .

Iran had it coming. When you host terrorist cells and a terrorist government and slaughter your own people because they were protesting then you shouldn't be surprised when there is violence either from outside agents or inside agents.
Also Ukraine can hold its own now and if you want to throw pedo labels around, everyone involved in this election probably was one or enabled one so that was a no-win regardless.

It’s a moment where we have to come to terms with the fact that America does what it wants and it doesn’t let the weight of treaties or international laws weigh heavy on it. They have an awful lot of power and now they are more overtly using it.

I’m of Cuban descent, and here in Florida I know a lot of Cubans. We all hope this t*** actually does something good and ends communism in Cuba.
I won’t hold my breath though.
Life there is pretty horrible to the point where I’m not sure if the people themselves feel the effects of the oil blockade at all. Probably just the ruling class
