I didn’t expect something as simple as posting to feel this intimidating 😅
It made me wonder do you remember the first time you posted something online? Were you nervous about how people would respond or am I just overthinking it?
You’re definitely not overthinking it 😄 posting for the first time feels weirdly intimidating. It’s like putting a small piece of yourself out there and waiting for reactions. But after a while, you realize most people are just scrolling and not judging as much as we think.

I’m trying to remind myself people are just scrolling and not analyzing every word I say lol

I get this. I didn’t expect something as simple as posting to feel that intimidating either 😅
It makes me wonder how many people feel the same the first time they post something.

It feels like it shouldn’t be a big deal but somehow it is. I’m starting to think it’s more common than we realize

It was on UseNet in the 90s, but I don't remember any sort of anxiety about it.

Ahhh UseNet - those were the days lol

UseNet? I was born in the 90s so I have no idea what that was like. Was it similar to Listnook at all?

Text only (mainly). No voting. Pre-Eternal-September. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal\_September )
Actually, I was posting before then, on a MUD (Multi-User Dungeon) server at UofM in 1987 or 1988, now that I think about it.

Yes I Remember my first post very well. Yes I was nervous about. Today I check the videos I make watch them over a few times etc before I post them.

I feel that I already catch myself double checking things before posting too
2
Jetro-2023Apr 1, 2026

Totally understand. Why do we double check everything?

So we don’t make an ass out of ourselves 🤔

Yes indeed. We definitely don’t want too feel the craziness from others. All great points. 😀

One more thing even when I post today especially the business posts I always feel like I need someone else’s eyes to look at to ensure I didn’t miss anything lol

I’m starting small by making comments like this sometimes. Hoping I can get rid of the “stage fright” by talking online more; I feel hopeful about it!

It was probably a blog back in the early 2000s. It was anonymous and the Internet felt less dangerous and more innocent then. At least to my early 20s self, so I didn't think all that much about it.

I definitely understand what you mean I remember the first time I posted online I didn’t have a thought in the world honestly, I just thought I made a fun video and wanted to post it, but I also remember when I first started posting on my Instagram people made a group chat and we’re making fun of me and stuff and I think after that that’s when I started to feel differently about myself as a young teen but now I’m 27 and a lot of that has still stuck with me, but it’s gotten a lot better😭

That sucks I’m sorry that happened to you that kind of experience can definitely stick with you. It makes sense it would shape how you feel about posting later on glad to know it’s gotten easier for you though

I guess it can naturally make sense to (perhaps subconsciously) want your first post/comment to seem like a "succesful debut", but then, the possible anxiety of this can be eased somewhat by realizing that, because of internet anonymity, no one can really tell if this is your actual first online post ever, or just *a* first post from your yet another account.

I was a -post dramatic lyrics on messenger- kid so I have no shame. But I don't think that feeling concerned or anxious is wrong it's like... Humans are social. I groups = survival and all that.

There are so many messages getting sent on here at any point in time. Its hard to catch up with the replies. I'm talking to 8 people at any point in time. That's posts, replies and chat.

No it was really so many years ago It was AOL and likely in a chat, quite possibly in a local chat. I DO know the very first thing I looked up. It was 1996, Christmas. I had come to visit my brother and he showed me his brand new PC.
What I looked up was "cheese". I was so impressed by the hundreds of results I got. History of cheese, recipes with cheese, stories about cheese. Pictures about cheese. It was just the first word that popped in to my head when my brother said I could look up anything in the world and learn more about it. I remember about 10 years later I looked it up again and there were millions of results. Now Google doesn't even tell you how many, but the top one after Wikipedia is places you can buy cheese.

Don't allow others people opinions to control your emotions. Yes I it's easy to say but if you think of it, you will start to express
