I get that it will not be for everyone due to the heights that the Netflix show reached, criticism is also fine and healthy for a show to have but I feel like most of what I have seen about this season so far has been in bad faith, those people be shitting on it for the sake of shitting on it or because Daredevil is ”mcu slop” now
Most of the dogpiling being about how ”bad” it looks visually which I don’t agree with when it comes to THIS season, different to the Netflix show (and not as good) yup but it doesn’t necessarily look bad imo
I have my own criticism too of some of the writing of this szn but will wait until all the eps have been released to see if it is warranted
Dude they started the new season before this by killing Foggy - just about the lamest hack writing that was possible
Then Kingpin comes for no f****** reason to do a trump parallel - low hanging fruit , more hack writing
There is not even 10% of action choreography that made the original series legend
And I can't stress this enough -
JERSEY CITY IS NOT THE F****** CROWN JEWEL OF AMERICA
I mean it can't be....

I'm watching the first episode of the new season, and it's kinda terribad.
DD went onto that ship beat people up really badly, like lucky if some of them survive badly.
Then 20 minutes later he tries to guilt trip Cherry into the investigation by going; "Men died on that boat!", like wtf? The whole reason that boat capsized, and men died was DD going complete sicko-mode on the dudes there lol

You can’t be serious right? Daredevil doesn’t kill lol the captain is the one who killed everyone by sinking the ship. Did you want daredevil to just do nothing about a ship full of illegal weapons? Did you want him to magically save everyone from a sinking ship?

I'd argue ROP was nitpicked early on, but then written off pretty quickly by a lot of people. Definitely nitpicked, but most of the biggest complainers I know didn't even return for season 2, let alone a third.

it deserved everything it got. it was dumb from the first minute. the dialogue was ridiculous and pretentious. "do you know why ships float?". it has a lot of the same pretentiousness that star trek discovery had. they delivered these lines in a tone as if they had some sort of deep meaning or gravitas, they were supposed to **sound** mysterious, philosophical or intellectual somehow and there was really no real meaning behind those words. what they actually said didnt make sense and was random nonsense. its dialogue written by stupid people who want to sound intellectual.
also picking a fight with the tolkien fandom has to be **the** worst decision you could possibly make.
these people read his books like religious text, so if you ever make an adaptation of tolkiens work you better stay faithful to it and to its themes. there were definitely better ways to adapt the lore of the silmarillion. condensing thousands of years of history into a few years was one of the bad choices.
they could have either adapted this kind of lore as an anthology show or went with several centuries time jumps in between while using elves as the main characters to connect everything together.
this is just one of the examples of the many bad choices they made.

There's sooooo many shows I watch and enjoy to varying degrees and log onto listnook to find all manner of whining and why did that character do that and this is different from a book and the outfit looked bad and blah blah blah
It's exhausting watching TV in this way

She Hulk had a 30 second twerking scene at the end of 1 episode and that's all people talk about. The discourse on a bunch of shows usually comes down to people making a big deal about 1 or 2 scenes.

People nitpicking and comparing it to past iterations will always be a thing. You see it with the Boys after 2 EPISODES. I wait until the season finish to binge. These type of shows are best to do it that way.

She-Hulk and Agatha All Along were both good shows that were made out to be trainwrecks by a lot of people. Trust me this isn't as bad, plus Born Again does have a lot of issues compared to the Netflix show which was almost flawless.

The only problem I have so far with S2 is just how unbelievably SLOW the pacing is. I know they are likely setting something up but it just feels like there isn't enough going on to keep the audience very engaged. I think S1 was far superior up to this point.

I've seen most people complain because they think the show is mocking trump comparing Kingpin and the AVTF to Trump and Ice. Which is also just not the case this season was written before Trump took office and its a comic book storyline.

exactly, Kingpin and their cult leader are too similar for them to be comfortable with. And the anti-vigilante task force is ICE. Same with "The Boys". The parallels are too similar with real life and they don't like it.

Personally, I don't care about the storyline. I don't like it because they replaced Foggy with a Black woman, for representation's sake. I don't like that they're making Karen a girl-boss (beating up and kidnapping an AVTF agent?). I don't like that they said they were bringing Foggy back, then BS'd that they agonized over killing him, when we know that there's no way they could bring him back and fire the Black woman hired to replace him. I don't like that they replaced Mahoney with Cherry.
I prefer the Netflix version of the show. Nelson Murdock and Page, Avocados at Law.

Not at all. I hope they bring back Elektra. Glad they're bringing back Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. What I don't like is swapping characters for representation's sake. I don't like re-writing a character's persona to fit the "modern audience".
I'm hoping that bringing back both Kristin Ritter and Mike Colter will lead to them getting their shows back as well.
1
ChainLCApr 14, 2026

how do you know that was their motivation for those changes? did they come out and say so? Originally Foggy was killed off to serve as the major plot point of season 1. Not just to replace him with a black female but to have the emotional effect on Matt. You are ascribing motivation with no proof other than your own opinion. Unless they stated it was a DEI hire for political correctness. and Mahoney is coming back btw.
1
Feeling_Class_8771Apr 15, 2026

Right, as if they're going to say that we can't bring Foggy back because we've replaced him with a black woman. And there's absolutely no way in this current political climate that they would replace a black woman with a white man. Heck, point me to one show in the last 10 years that has replaced a black woman with a white man?
What is the point in Kirsten's character if she isn't a Foggy replacement? I think that maybe they changed her dynamic, and probably her prominence in the show, when they changed BA from a courtroom procedural back to an action show.
I will say this, for me episode 5 has been the best one of the season because it was all Foggy, no Kirsten and no Cherry. Closest we've had to the Netflix version so far.
They said Foggy was coming back too. In 1.5 seasons we have one episode of Foggy, so how much Mahoney do you think they'll give us since we have Cherry as his replacement?
1
ChainLCApr 15, 2026

you're implying that because "they wouldn't say it", proves they did it for that reason; total fallacy. also they needed someone in Matt's circle to represent Swordmaster that wasn't being sought by Fisk. As for Mahoney we don't know how much screen time he will be getting. But he is a cop, Cherry retired and now a P.I. It could be strictly that it made more sense plot wise and not some nefarious scheme to piss you off. Wait until you see who replaces Fisk as Mayor lol. A black woman. You gonna self-immolate over that one?
1
Feeling_Class_8771Apr 15, 2026
+1
and you're implying that because they didn't say it that it isn't the reason, what's the difference? No, they didn't need someone in Matt's circle to defend the Swordmaster. Why did it have to be someone in Matt's circle? They didn't even have to write it so that he needed an attorney.
Cherry is Mahoney's replacement in the original vision of the BA series before it was retooled. Since they couldn't reshoot everything in season 1, when they switched from courtroom procedural to action/drama, they couldn't just drop him and bring back Mahoney. The same thing happened with Kirsten. We're five episodes into the new season, how much time do you think Mahoney can actually get now?
I don't care if they make the new mayor a black woman, as long as they don't replace Wilson Fisk with Wilma Fisk.
Look. I'm just a fan of the Netflix show, and I don't like the decisions they've made with this version. I can guess at the reasons for their choices and based on Disney history I believe my guesses are probably closer to correct than not. You don't think so, and that's fine.

ChainLCApr 15, 2026

"and you're implying that because they didn't say it that it isn't the reason, what's the difference?"
the difference is you're the accuser and the burden of proof is on you.
"why did it have to be someone in Matt's circle?"
Because otherwise Matt would not have gotten that level of cooperation or detail from them.
He probably wouldn't have even attempted it with any generic def atty.
If you don't like it, don't watch it.

Nah bro, shit writing for these characters bother us. Get a good actor, doesnt have to be famous I am pretty sure there enough indie actors who can represent, and write properly, that's it, when the actors or writers are bad or both and people criticise, people like you blame the person criticizing by calling them RW or someone who is against representation, nah man we aren't against representation. We against sloppy writing, editing, acting etc.
This general hypocrisy showcased by the majority of liberals is why we got people fed up and rise in Right Wing all over the world.

My friend I am a person of color as well. Atleast if I lived in America. So yes most of the time I find that when minority characters are written they are mostly bad or seem like more thought was given into satisfying the liberal idealistic ego and less into actually researching and understanding the said minority character. And no not all are written bad but the majority are, and even this pattern has been observed where a good interesting white character is replaced by barebones minority character. Even in historical fiction. It's just embarrassing tbh. Focus on quality rather than satisfying your privileged idealistic mind just to make you feel better about your self without actually knowing or understanding the reality.
