The fact they made me feel any sympathy for her in the end is impressive, because she was such a frustrating person.
63
Seagoon_Memoirs Apr 24, 2026 -3
How was she frustrating, what did she do that was so bad?
-3
theodo Apr 24, 2026 +8
Did you watch the show? She is constantly making rude little comments to people.
8
Seagoon_Memoirs Apr 25, 2026 -15
That's so awful!! What she should have done is talk nicely but abuse her family and friends, then you would like her. I think she's just very tired out and was trying to be more assertive, learning boundaries and how to be assertive as a way to cope with Floyd's abuse.
-15
theodo Apr 25, 2026 +6
... Floyd was abusive?
6
Seagoon_Memoirs Apr 25, 2026 +2
Yes. He was financially abusive. He betrayed her trust and the family. He treated her like a sex object, didn't even want to kiss and cuddle when he wanted intimacy, told her to roll over. set her up to have clark watch ( how is that intimacy? ) he blamed her for his own insecurities. ( don't you remember how he made her cry, telling her how she dressed caused his impotence ) he never did his part around the house, even tho she had two jobs do you remember that time Floyd asked her how he could make her life easier, if he could do anything?

Haha! Sorry! I know right? My wife and I will occasionally throw that phrase around in conversation and we both get caught off guard. Typing that message made my blood pressure spike.
17
hi_im_ducky Apr 24, 2026 +2
My girlfriend and I have found ourselves saying "Yeah!" with the same vocal fry as her, "No way Jose" and "Snag it!". She was so frustrating but man is she quotable.
2
jagoble Apr 24, 2026 +3
My fave to yell out is "Powerhouse!" Usually while doing squats, putting groceries away, or sitting in church.

He’s so damn likable in this role. You can’t help but root for his character even knowing from the first episode how his story ends.

Absolutely wholesome

arazamatazguy Apr 23, 2026 +160
He was incredible in this. I really don't think this show would even work without him.

BlackWhiteCoke Apr 24, 2026 +61
The scene of him as a backup / gogo dancer during the live performance was amazing, I was fully locked in to the show after that

How is he supporting? The Emmys should review every candidate and make sure they go in the right category because this is absolutely a co-lead role. In fact, I think Bateman, Harbour, and Cardellini are all leads.

ASSMAN45 Apr 23, 2026 +114
He really deserves this. It was an outstanding performance.

He developed the show with Steven Conrad so yeah it was

RFK Jr. pulled this just recently on someone and I'm bothered by the idea he might have actually watched this show and was inspired by it

This is how I find out the Conrads have a new show? Now that's some good news. The dark age of puppets is over.

Cannot fathom there being a better, more soulful performance this year. He absolutely should be nominated and win.

itsallpoliticsalex Apr 23, 2026 +42
One of the finest performances of the decade. Floyd was such a beautiful but wrought soul.
42
verissimoallan Apr 24, 2026 +8
Bateman and Cardellini are also going to be submitted as Supporting. So who is the Lead in this show?
8
Opening_Mousse8361 Apr 24, 2026 +6
David's character's messed up d***.
6
flippenzee Apr 24, 2026 +3
Man they batted that story around for so long before they said what really happened.
3
jagoble Apr 24, 2026 +2
Whoa! Didn't see that coming. A real curveball.
2
cr0w1980 Apr 23, 2026 +22
Well deserved. Incredible, genuine performance that really made you feel for the guy. I'm 45 and very much stuck in middle aged malaise myself, and I recognized a lot of things in his story.
22
yolo-tomassi Apr 23, 2026 +24
Show was okay but he was phenomenal. He's always been at least solid, but I didn't think he had it in him. Especially with the various reports suggesting that he's recently experienced or is experiencing a mental breakdown.
24
icantfeelmylags Apr 24, 2026 +28
I’ve seen a lot of people say something similar. Which is odd because Hopper was the most effortlessly acted character in Stranger Things thanks to him. Felt like he was doing laps around everyone else he was in a scene with. He was incredible.
28
Caelinus Apr 24, 2026 +8
He was so believable in that show. I think the issue is that he was almost *too* believable, so people just kind of... believed it? And so he ended up not drawing the focus as an *actor* as much and instead served as a solid backbone for the whole series. The fact that he managed to pull of playing Ancient-Norse-Warrior-God-Santa-Clause in Violent Night so well really solidified my opinion of his skills. I love him in that movie.
8
yolo-tomassi Apr 24, 2026 +1
I believe it...I just watched the first season of Stranger Things, tho. I remember him as a standout in a pretty great cast.
1
generalvostok Apr 23, 2026 +20
Was he not the lead?
20
GingerSoulEater41 Apr 23, 2026 +11
I think there were three leads. David, Justin and Linda.

Theres no rule distinguishing between lead and supporting.
2
Ink_Smudger Apr 23, 2026 +7
Yeah, basically they can pick which they want to submit in, which surprises me he's going for supporting since it was already reported Bateman will be submitting in that category. When that was announced, I figured Bateman was doing it to clear the way for Harbour to submit for lead and so they wouldn't be competing against each other.
7
Logan_No_Fingers Apr 24, 2026 +3
Bateman is probably going for lead in Black Rabbit. Also lead in a limited series already has Oscar Isaac & Mathew Rhys in it, so that's a tough one. Supporting is an easier route
3
Tibbaryllis2 Apr 24, 2026 +3
What’s more on brand for **best supporter** than two leads choosing to be second fiddle to each other?
3
comradenu Apr 24, 2026 +2
The DTF "cover" with the three of them on swings makes me favor the 3 equal leads description.
2
incomplete-thoughts7 Apr 24, 2026 +6
Isn’t he a huge piece of shit?
6
JonathanLarsonJr Apr 23, 2026 +9
Outstanding award worthy performance, one of the best of the decade arguably
9
michelleleigh Apr 23, 2026 +9
Should be lead not supporting. He’s brilliant
9
argument_sketch Apr 23, 2026 +8
He should win for best Actor. He MADE this show, hands down.
8
DAN991199 Apr 23, 2026 +17
Weirdest thing, I saw him once through a window. He was dancing in his underwear. When he saw me I just started walking away. He pounded on the window and when I looked he told me to rock on. Then pounded a drink.

I loved how absurd that was
2
Puppykerry Apr 24, 2026 +3
He was astonishingly good, especially considering I don’t often find his work particularly great, but he really nailed it. As did everyone. However, I think the real star of the show was Peter Sarasgard. Stole the whole thing with basically two scenes and for me embodied the theme of the show “be true to yourself no matter the opinions of others, or slowly kill yourself by denying who you are.” The more I think on it, the more I loved this series.

I miss Floyd. I found the show ultimately disappointing but I find myself missing Floyd. He was so sweet, so empathetic...qualities that are hard to find in real life, much less in a television series. He was so great. Such a sweetie. I hope Harbour wins.
2
Seagoon_Memoirs Apr 25, 2026 +2
His empathy for Carol was truly so awe inspiring.

Though I do remember not a single actor from The Leftovers was ever even nominated
0
PeachSubstantial918 Apr 23, 2026 +2
Great performance indeed. I've never watched Stranger Things, but on the basis of DTF and Violent Night, David Harbour is definitely on my favourites list. However, nominating him as a supporting actor is bullshit. Not only is Harbour one of the three leads of the show, but his character is also essentially its narrative and emotional centre. If he's not the lead, then who the hell is? I've been seeing this a lot lately, with major players in ensemble casts getting nominated for supporting actor awards, and that's just wrong. Just because there are two other actors who are just as lead as you are, doesn't mean you're not also a leading actor.
2
stanley_leverlock Apr 24, 2026 +1
Every actor in this show did such a good job. It ends being nothing like you think it is and the ending is both satisfying and heartbreaking.
1
JimmyTheJimJimson Apr 23, 2026 +1
Absolutely deserved. After the whole debacle with Lily Allen, I was really not into watching this - but I fell in love with his character. Just a brilliant performance
1
itafunnystory Apr 24, 2026 -6
Dude abused his wife but played a helluva hetero-flexible and all is forgiven. Okayyyyy
-6
Pook_in_the_Sixes Apr 24, 2026 +2
Shhh he’s on his redemption arc right now and people don’t want to be reminded that he emotionally abuses and manipulates women.
2
itafunnystory Apr 24, 2026 +3
Well by the same backwards logic, let's see these misogynists argue with this. I think Lily Allen is hot and that's why we should defend her and not him. I've seen her nice boobies, so f*** David harbor.
3
Seagoon_Memoirs Apr 23, 2026 -2
he was so good i hated him/was triggered and that doesn't happen often
-2
jagoble Apr 24, 2026 +2
What? How can you hate Floyd?
2
Seagoon_Memoirs Apr 24, 2026 +3
Because he is a bad person. The fact that people can have such differing views shows me a few things most people have no experience with dealing with the personality disordered that many viewers are young That people believe what they are told, not what they see with their own eyes ask yourself this, what do the characters who spend their time with him think of him you will find they have the same attitude, they see a fragile person who tries, who knows what is good, but is mostly thoughtless and does bad things and that David Harbour is a very good actor
3
monchota Apr 24, 2026
The fact you have to "campaign" for this, makes it worthless.
