What's the point of having a disciplinary process if it can just be completely undermined on a whim?
13048
JohnnyFire Mar 31, 2026 +8182
Because there's no f****** consequences. They weaponized cancel culture as some kind of mob coming to destroy innocent people for no reason, when in reality it was asking for the absolute bare amount of accountability for shitty behavior. But now? F****** nothing. Brazenly just saying rules, regulations, standards, good taste, none of it f****** matters, unless it's against them then it's a personal attack.

Exactly. Cancel Culture wouldn't have had to exist if there was any accountability for these people. The public had to take it in their own hands, and did so without violence or doing anything illegal, just by spreading the word that someone is awful and shouldn't be supported... and they could not stand that. Pretty telling that they think it targeted them when all it did was target awful people who never saw consequences. That Venn diagram is nearly a circle.
292
highbrowalcoholic Apr 1, 2026 +84
What they called "cancel culture" was the closest thing we've seen in a long time to the free market at work. They _hate_ markets actually being "free".
84
ropahektic Apr 1, 2026 +15
Cancel culture is a step before revolution. Of course it scared them and of course they had to put a stop to it. It reminded them we could eat them at any time, if we somehow managed to agree to it.

Trump is punishing the country because he knows he lost in 2020. And he’s furious about it.
328
JohnnyFire Apr 1, 2026 +191
The only time in his life he faced actual tangible public consequences for his actions and he proceeded to whine and b**** and moan for 4 years, and he is STILL whining and moaning about it now. All he had to do was not f*** up everything and relatively decently navigate out of COVID and he could've probably won because we live in the stupidest timeline possible, and he somehow couldn't even clear that bar.

OlderThanMyParents Apr 1, 2026 +72
I said at the time, if he'd had the sense of my kid's hamster, he'd have sold MAGA masks, made millions of bucks, and been reelected as decisively as Nixon in 1972.
72
pinksockenthusiast Apr 1, 2026 +20
You're absolutely right. Instead, he had less sense than said varmint (and somehow lower morals), and only managed to scrounge up a handful of BILLIONS instead. He stands as a lesson to our youth; if you wanna be truly rich, you've gotta steal.
20
LupusRex09 Apr 1, 2026 +48
Not only that but also the fact its to intentionally weaken us as whole, the moment we erupt into a civil war over the class inequality and lack of access to what should be basic necessities for every human being as promised by the constitution we were founded on, is the moment we will be targeted globally and our allies are going to have a really tough decision to make because we allowed this administration to sour our relationships with them.
48
PlethoraOfPinatass Apr 1, 2026 +14
Let's not forget that this incident went down mere hours after reports emerged that Hegseth invested his personal fortunes in defense companies right before starting a war which he has sweeping powers over the contractors. 30 years ago, a cabinet member pulling that kind of corruption would have brought down the entire executive to a Nixon-level implosion. No Potus would have made it without resigning, it's that serious of a lapse in judgement

King_Chochacho Apr 1, 2026 +8
>Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect. It all makes sense in this context

It completely undermines discipline and makes the Secretary think he's a minor god. It's terrible for morale and terrible for the country, so of course that's what this fool wants to do. Trump Administration = Amateur Time (except when it comes to robbing the American public.)

It's the military. You're constantly at risk of being screwed over by the whims of your superiors.
607
War_machine77 Mar 31, 2026 +397
And that's the reason these dumbasses were better off with the suspension. I'm sure their superiors that were just shit on won't be out to make their lives a living hell or anything.

138
RogueAOV Apr 1, 2026 +71
If their superiors were not in on it to start with they went off mission/flight plan with military equipment, so they would be screwed. I suspect they were suspended until that was confirmed and now of course the superiors will face whatever lack of consequences deemed most annoying.

You mean like reactivating a commission to attack the pension and reputation of an Astronaut Senator who politely reminded the military not to follow illegal orders ?
110
GrippingHand Apr 1, 2026 +30
In the military, you may be able to. But more importantly, this isn't about not liking them. They should not be flying military helicopters to random people's houses. That's not a personal vehicle to go joyriding in. That's a dangerous piece of military hardware paid for by the US public, to be used responsibly in service to that public.
30
thisvideoiswrong Apr 1, 2026 +16
Best case scenario they wasted a couple thousand dollars worth of fuel that definitely wasn't theirs, which could qualify as grand theft. Then you start the list of things that could have gone wrong, which ends with another military helicopter crashing into an airliner with hundreds of lives lost. You're absolutely right, this was a grossly irresponsible use of taxpayer resources.

We're in the middle of a war that is going disastrously, there's videos of Americans getting shelled inside their bases hundreds of miles away, precious irreplaceable aircraft that are the jewels of the USAF are getting blown to pieces on the tarmacs.... ...and THIS is what his top priority was today.
36
Aazadan Apr 1, 2026 +12
It makes complete sense, an orginization rots from the top down. Kegger isn't a serious person, he got rid of the serious generals, he's putting valuable resources in harms way due to an inability to plan, or in general be disciplined about anything, and now flight plans for aircraft in the US goto shit.

>“The Army has confirmed that on March 28, two Apache helicopters from the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Campbell conducted a flight in the Nashville area that has attracted public and media attention,” according to a statement from the Army on Tuesday. The Army is reviewing “the circumstances surrounding the mission, including compliance with relevant FAA regulations, aviation safety protocol, and approval requirements.” >Hegseth said in a social media post that there was “No punishment. No Investigation. Carry on, patriots.” We are not a serious country.

KuritanCenturion Mar 31, 2026 +1746
Regardless of the politics this is such a serious undercutting of command responsibility and accountability. You can't even investigate, let alone discipline, service members under your command for policy violations if its trending on social media?
1746
virrk Mar 31, 2026 +576
It will continue until someone dies or there is a serious incident. Then they'll kick the service members out to make an example of them. Then go after the commander who they undercut like this.

26
Scaryclouds Apr 1, 2026 +94
The only way we can possibly hope to get back to normal is we have like four successive terms of democratic administrations were a core part of the platform and appeal is a return to rule of law and acceptance of core democratic principles. And the only reason a Republican is elected is because they have become equally “boring”.  Alas I don’t have much hope of that happening.  I fear the best we can hope for is; GOP gets trounced in 26, 28, and makes gains in 30, and we narrowly beat out some new psycho in 2032, before some other psycho wins in 2036 because the Democrats didn’t fix everything Trump/MAGA have fucked up.
94
Crismus Apr 1, 2026 +55
It only goes back to normal when everyone from this administration ends up in jail for corruption and all their illegal gains get taken away.
55
MarsupialMadness Apr 1, 2026 +24
**This.** People gotta go to f****** prison. There can be no normal, no healing, no "moving on", no unity, Nothing. Absolutely no way forward is possible without the Republican party being taken to the cleaners. If we don't do that, we're just repeating Obama and Biden's biggest blunders.
24
SYLOH Apr 1, 2026 +34
You're being overly optimistic. People don’t understand how serious stuff like this is - this is telling soldiers there will be no consequences for illegal acts. These guys harassed/menaced a No Kings protest prior to this stunt at Kid Rock’s house. Is it much of a stretch going from doing that to obeying an order to fire on a crowd, say during an attempt to stop people from voting in November? I don’t think it’s as big a stretch as people might think.
297
CelestialFury Apr 1, 2026 +99
Now that right-wing military members see that there's no punishment for doing stupid MAGA shit, mark my words, it's going to increase and hurt disciple across the entire forces. Hegseth intervening is literally the worst action he could've taken.
99
Unknowledge99 Apr 1, 2026 +34
or the best: it entirely depends on his reason. A public declaration of protecting MAGA aligned activity (like this) is exactly the reassurance that military personnel need for the upcoming illegal orders they're about to receive. None of this is accidental...
34

or: this is how a regime signals its priority of maga aligned activity over legality. Hegseth has been very clear: "This administration is not worried about legality" With this action he has signalled: "if you break the law doing a MAGA aligned activity we will protect you" A clear reassurance to military personnel that the illegal orders they are about to receive will not be punished. Boiling the frog...

Imagine being the CO of that squadron and getting completely undermined by some fuckin jackoff with a $500 haircut. So the message is: buzz a celebrity’s house for political clout, get a slap on the wrist, then even that gets reversed. Maybe, bare minimum, ban campaign-style joyrides in military hardware.

o_MrBombastic_o Mar 31, 2026 +60
It's already against the rules along with campaigning in Arlington Cemetery and Campaigning in bases or in Uniform. Rules and laws don't matter to this administration

It looks like the orange menace intervened. Hopefully the pilots’ superior officers will find a way to make it clear that the pilots were way out of line. No doubt, it pisses them off to have a talk show host interfere with their commands.

The amount of bigots I encountered when I enlisted about 10 years ago was equal if not more than the good folks. Everyone I knew that was good left, after one 4/6 year term. You still had good people staying (mainly to care for their family) but a lot of them were not good. Don't even get me started on the high ranking Officers in the Air force that were DEVOUT religious followers. When Kegsbreath said that shit about a "holy mission" I was thinking "Buckle in folks you have no idea how zealous these people are".

WackHeisenBauer Mar 31, 2026 +22
American soldiers are going livestream themselves doing war crimes after the soon-to-be-invasion of Iran and Trump will give them the Medal of Honor. And for some reason tens of millions of Americans will cheer it on. That country is sick.

It’s a business model, and coming to your shores soon enough.

Michael_Gibb Apr 1, 2026 +56
So a retired pilot is investigated for citing the US military code of conduct. But two pilots who commit unsafe or unauthorised conduct during flight, get off scot-free. Clearly there's no discipline in the military anymore.
56
steve_ample Mar 31, 2026 +122
So the suspension was as fake as Kid Rock's performance for the TPUSA superbowl halftime show.
122
Shopworn_Soul Apr 1, 2026 +51
No, they probably really got suspended and probably had a really bad fuckin' day that should have been extended to "quite a while". But then the Secretary Of Manly Manliness And All That Is Manly And Also Tough showed up swinging his d*** and a bottle of whiskey around and now another raft of competent officers will probably be run out of the military.
51
TabsAZ Apr 1, 2026 +12
This, guarantee the people who tried to discipline them are going to lose their jobs for doing the right thing.

Just like pardoning the insurrectionists. Commit illegal acts but say it was for the fascists in charge then you get off.

Sounds like a free pass for service members to disobey and violate the rules and regulations they swore to abide by while serving…as long as it “looks cool and super patriotic”, the disgraceful and pathetic “Sec. of *Warmongering*” will save you… Imagine those Generals and Colonels being undercut by someone like “Kegsbreath” for simply following rules and holding their people accountable….pathetic…
14
GRID_GHST Mar 31, 2026 +71
So… spending tax payers money to fly a military helicopter over the hills of a crack baby that smells like hot dog water and candy from a hot van is business as usual for a “patriot”, gotcha…

brokefixfux Mar 31, 2026 +44
They also deliberately buzzed a No Kings protest. That alone should warrant serious disciplinary action.

Scared-Hope-868 Apr 1, 2026 +61
They may never know it,others may hear rumors, but their days in the military are limited. This regime won't be in power forever, and this little power play move with an attack helicopter will be in their records forever. Their supervisors forever in the future will know of this little stunt. Unless they're the best of the best, and not some showoff, they're not going much further in the military. And as a veteran, I say good riddance to them. They're the ones who get combat troops killed.

Americans did one of three things in 2024. 1. Voted for the country to be destroyed by criminals 2. Didn't vote at all because they didn't care about their country in the slightest (probably watching football instead) 3. Voted desperately to stop their country from being destroyed by criminals

Nothing says military discipline like encouraging pilots to showboat against protocol/procedure. Especially not in massive vehicles capable of crashing or causing other issues even without their weapons firing. >“No punishment. No Investigation. Carry on, patriots,” Hegseth said in a social media post.
11
Ok-disaster2022 Mar 31, 2026 +35
Yeah.  And depending on the base commander, next week the warrant officers will be cleaning out the toilets in the barracks. And the week after. Completely unrelated.  I dont care about the flight path, my issue is the altitude and pausing over private residence, which I'm pretty certain the FAA has rules about. These issues create danger for the public, the pilots and the aircraft.
35
Financial-Savings-91 Mar 31, 2026 +10
Considering the danger of one's actions to the public is dangerously close to empathy and is surely frowned upon by this administration.
10
transcendental-ape Mar 31, 2026 +17
Trump may die getting away with it all. But Hegseth is gonna end up in a docket at the Hauge if he keeps this up.
17
TheWolfbytez Apr 1, 2026 +8
What a f****** joke. As a pilot, their actions would have any civilian pilot grounded for life. The fact that these ass hats get away with this shit under this administration is a joke.

So Kegsbreath was the man who let it happen. Not surprising.
7
syddraf4188 Apr 1, 2026 +7
I knew this is exactly how it would play out cause that’s the kind of shit ole kegger is into. So we are under reporting that this mission seen them flying within extremely close distance to a busy Charlie air space with little to no comms to those controllers. Attack helos over flying organized and lawful peaceful protests. And gross misuse of government property for media fluff. And now sec def (I refuse to call him sec war.) is completely undermining any commanders ability to enforce discipline because if he likes the optics cowboy shit is just fine. Un serious people serious consequence.
7
TabsAZ Apr 1, 2026 +6
Nashville is one of the busiest Class C airspaces in the country and there’s been calls to make it a Bravo for years. Absolutely not a stretch at all to think this could have caused real traffic conflicts. And they did this knowing full well what happened a year ago at DCA.
6
Opening_Classroom_46 Apr 1, 2026 +8
Because they took military equipment to take part in a right wing propaganda mission, they will recieve no punishments.

Gross. The blatant disregard for decorum over a C rate celebrity. What a fuckshow this is.
4
RenoRiley1 Apr 1, 2026 +6
Having a semblance of military discipline was fun while it lasted. On a slippery slope note if hegseth is willing to pardon partisan d*** waving what’s to stop him pardoning soldiers that shoot democrats?
6
KillDozer321 Apr 1, 2026 +5
So… Apache pilots can just, fly wherever they want whenever they want? Is that what’s going on now?
5
KarmaCommando_ Apr 1, 2026 +6
I would describe that as "waste, fraud, and abuse"
6
HoneyBadgerLive Apr 1, 2026 +5
Hegseth is clearly in WAY over his head. No way those pilots are ever trusted again by their chain of command.
5

I’m 100% behind our armed forces, but also, this is the same Army whose disregard for FAA regulations and direct instruction from a flight controller resulted in the deaths of 67 people a year ago. So hoo rah and all that, but there are rules for good reasons.
