Guillermo del Toro's 2025 movie Frankenstein had a total production budget of $120 million. How the f*** can a blockbuster Hollywood feature cost less to produce than these shitty commercials? (it's a rhetorical question - I'm aware of the graft)

I do love the fact that we can see her hands and neck. Her age is showing. I’m not one for calling people out, but if the president can do it, so should we. 

Noem and Lewandowski are gonna get jail time over this. Those are going to be very unpopular pardons Trump is going to give out. That should be in every campaign video the Democrats make for the next 3 years.

$286k in filming costs. $200M contract. The filming cost is basically a rounding error. That’s $199.7M directly into someone’s pocket.

So DHS gave a company $143M to produce a set of commercials for $226K? Where did the rest of the money for this "no-bid" contract go?

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that this was just an embezzlement scheme… giving money to politically connected individuals.

I guarantee you that federal procurement regulations were not followed by anyone at DHS. Trump fired all the inspector generals at the federal agencies so that this corruption could proceed unchecked. So much for draining the swamp.

Project Hail Mary cost $200 million - so $20 million less than that Horse ad

$226k to produce a high-quality ad is not completely outrageous, on its own. The $4,000 hair & makeup budget that is mentioned is pretty reasonable in the context of $53,000 of production costs. Camera rental, grip, transportation, labor, insurance, catering, lodging, etc. eat up a lot of money for even a fairly basic shoot. If you were to go ask Wieden+Kennedy to produce a national TV spot for you it would be in that ballpark for sure. Obviously the fact that it was produced at all, produced by an inner-circle group of political contacts, and the millions spent on ad placements is total fraud and abuse of power, but the ad itself isn't totally crazy.
