I was wondering who the despised icon is until I realized that’s the bands name

Were they very good our superb and fully-deserving of this recent award?

Judging by the pic, they should be named Some Dudes in a Field

I’ve noticed a lot of bands these days have bad names - I think it’s a trend. Examples: Laundry Day, soccer mom, Sports, Geese, Goose.

Not their fault. All the good names like Butthole Surfers have been taken.

I had no idea there's new Despised Icon - that's some good news I wasn't expecting.

They've been back for years now, though, and not even like... a few. In fact, this is the third album they've released since returning to the scene *a decade* ago.

I didn't know they were still going! They're absolutely brutal (in a good way)

I'm acquainted with one of them. They all have regular day jobs but they still a few weeks every year or so. Lots of followers in Europe. They even opened for Metallica once. Really particular lifestyle.

I always find musicians’ day jobs interesting. Scott Hull from Pig Destroyer (and several other bands) is also a government computer specialist.

I can confirm for the Europeans followers, we love them since the beginning ! I've listened to "Furtive Monologue" so many times, some friends can't hear it anymore. Ahah

Lol. I clicked on the article expecting it to be some artist who is hated by most, not an actual band called Despised Icon whom I've never heard of.

Jesus yep, I’m an idiot who can’t read. I’ll delete my comment but leave this one so people can know how stupid I am. My god I am ashamed.

Appreciate it. And hey anyone reading this check out both Despised Icon and Disembodied Tyrant, both awesome bands even if you’re dyslexic and have poor attention lol.

Yes. Canadian Grammys. One of my fav bands is Unleash the Archers and they won for best metal album a few years ago.

Awesome to hear!
These dudes are the literal OG's of deathcore , credited with influencing the development of an entire subgenre.
I found the when I was 12 and uh, yeah, probably shouldn't have been listening to them at that age haha

Saw them in Nashville 2009/10 timeframe, right after Day of Mourning dropped. Show was f****** insane.
