Are we able to ask if the food is actually edible? Because some of the people at other facilities have reported it isn't.

My first reaction was "Are they actually going on hunger strikes, or is ICE just not feeding them to pocket the money and reporting it as one?"
...Because that's where we're at as a country. Anything that can be a grift will be a grift.

There's multiple hunger strikes reported in ICE facilities, the food is rotten and inedible.

I can not put into words the amount of unreasonable sadness and anger at this.

Not unreasonable, completely justified rage. It's a betrayal of the constitution.

I cannot put into words how infuriated I am that a third of the country also wanted this and enjoys seeing it happen.

It's so f****** gross seeing people get stoked for concentration camps.

So fix it. If you are unwilling to do so, then how angry could you really be?

I suppose you’re personally willing to take up arms and you’re just looking for a good squad to join up with. Is that it? No? It’s not? Huh, it seemed like you were willing because you were insisting that someone else to do the fighting.

It's probably nutraloaf.
Barely counts as edible food.

This is a genuine question and I do not support the concentration camps these people are being held in:
What does a hunger strike accomplish when who you’re striking against doesn’t care if you eat

Presumably it brings public awareness, and potential public pressure on the organization and the circumstances of their victims’ incarceration.

People that do care or are on the fence start asking questions like "why would someone starve themselves?"
13
jefbenet2 days ago

That was my first thought “that’s not gonna work, they want them all to die!”

This part.
They already dont care enough to give decent conditions. Starving yourself doesnt change their minds. In their minds the sooner you die the sooner you arent their problem anymore.

I think that’s what we’re going to find out. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that these places are going to be just like the Nazi death camps in just a few years, as long as the Trump Administration is allowed to rule unimpeded.

Personally I don’t think it accomplishes anything. It’s not like the people who support, ICE detention centres are under the impression that they are humane facilities. The horrible conditions are part of the reason they support these centres.

'concentration camp'.
'facility' is just white-washing it, making it sound like a place with an acceptable function.

My immediate suspicion is that the people in these concentration camps are not striking at all - but being starved. I do not believe a single narrative from this government, and too often, our worst suspicions keep proving to be correct.

Treating people not accused of a felony like this is a bigly sin, Don & Co. will rot crispy in Heck, if there is one. 🔥

Treating people *accused* of a felony like this is also a sin. Even our for-profit prisons have better conditions than these centers as I understand it.

Yeah when did innocent until proven guilty turn into "incarcerate them in torturous conditions until they plead guilty to the crime the government accuses them of"

I hope they can successfully sue for lack of a speedy trial and/or cruel or unusual punishment, things the Constitution forbids. However the RV Court may use inventive interpretation.

I don't think this is going to go the way they think.
Hunger strikes only work if the entity imprisoning you believes the negative press of your death will impact them.

Yeah it turns out that people don’t care if the date is some made up weed holiday when they’re being treated inhumanely. Go figure.
