So $380K in production expenses. Where's the other $200M ??

TVDIII Mar 23, 2026 +170
To comparatively put this scandal into context, the production budget for the original MCU Avengers movie was $220 million, which was an 143 minute full-length movie heavy on CGI. Heads should be rolling over this wasteful ~~spending~~ theft of tax payer money!

Wow that is good context. Also, I was wondering if maybe ad space was somehow more expensive than I’d imagined, so I looked up what marvel spends on advertising for their big budget films…..The complete **Global** advertising budget for *Avengers Endgame* was 200 million….. There is no f****** way the DHS ad campaign spent the same amount as the complete global ad budget for Endgame. I call bullshit. Someone(s) directly pocketed *at least* half of this, as well as ‘overpaid’ some friends Edit: okay so my brain got itchy and I looked up an even more recent marvel film (because inflation since 2019 has been rough) *Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3* from 2023, supposedly had a global ad/promotion of 100 million….so yeah the DHS folks are definitely just straight up doing financial crimes (as well as violent)

I believe the ceo of the marketing company was like a campaign manager or marketer for Noem's campaign in South Dakota

''I'm just asking questions'' 1. How did this happen 2. Where has the money actually been disappeared to 3. Why do the people involved still have a job
10
dehydratedrain Mar 23, 2026 +3
1. We were too busy losing our minds over DOGE stealing data, threats against other countries, Epstein rumors, and Alligator Alcatraz to see this money appropriated behind the scenes. 2. The pockets of a small group of people (including several of the current admin) through a series of shell corporations. 3. Because the corrupt leadership is completely ignoring courts and law, and no one has been held accountable, which is essentially paralyzing the government. So why would they stop when they're becoming millionaires with no punishment?

Media dollars in theory. The biggest cost of advertising is not making the ad itself, it's paying to distribute it.
2
InertiasCreep Mar 23, 2026 +2
OK. So lets say the ad cost half a mil. That leaves $199.5M. Does it cost $199.5M to distribute a 30 second spot on TV, cable, and the internet? This is for US distribution, not global.
2
GrowthMarketingMike Mar 23, 2026 +2
$200MM is a massive budget for an ad campaign, but didn't they run a super bowl ad? That's $8MM right there, so it goes faster than you think. If they're buying a bunch of linear TV spots and not trying to be super efficient with their spending then it's not impossible for all that money to be going to media spend. That said, I wouldn't be remotely shocked if they're skimming, just trying to add some context.
2
InertiasCreep Mar 23, 2026 +1
Someone elsewhere in this thread mentioned that the global campaign for one of the Avengers movies was $200M+. I am just not seeing how a national campaign for commercial placement would cost anywhere near that. I can see the $8M for the Super Bowl, but thats a one time thing. That's still $191M. Appreciate the context btw.
1
GrowthMarketingMike Mar 23, 2026 +2
I mean, they could just be buying more placements or more expensive placements. It also depends on how long the campaign runs for. Movie campaigns tend to be very short. Brands like Coke spend billions annually on advertising so it's not like $200MM isn't doable. Also, ads in the US are generally much more expensive than they are in the rest of the world and probably made up the lion's share of that Avengers budget. Again, I'm not saying everything is on the up and up. But $200MM isn't some impossible amount of money to spend in advertising, even in just the US. That would most likely be a very poorly planned media budget, but it's doable. It's important to understand the things we're talking about if we're going to try to combat these Nazis, so just trying to add context that the average person may not know.

No, thank you for adding to the conversation.

F*** right? Jesus Christ. The narrative distraction is crazy around here.

A scandal like this for any other admin would be monumental and dominate headlines. If it was a Dem, Fox News would be endlessly screeching about it for months, if not years. For the Trump admin? It's a weekday.

Horses get things to blacken their hooves and improve the brightness of their blaze. Mane braids, tail extensions, and similar hair products are part of the beautifying act. It’s a thing. Horse people be crazy.

Invoices for the Department of Homeland Security ad campaign that heavily featured now-ousted Sec. Kristi Noem reveal the department spent thousands on a horse rental, hair and makeup services, along with more than $100,000 in labor costs and more than $40,000 in other vendor costs, according to information first shared with NOTUS on Monday by Democratic senators. Other expenses included: $20,000 for a horse rental, $3,781 on hair and makeup services, $107,405 on labor costs for The Strategy Group, $52,599 for videography, photography and production vendors, $500 at a magic store in South Dakota, and $42,853 for other vendors. MyNameIsRay Mar 23, 2026 +5
One of the oldest forms of gov't fraud is granting contracts to your friends for multiple times the market rate, and then having them share the profit with you. Remember the Sarah Huckabee Sanders lectern scandal, [where she spent $20k on a $7k lectern from her friend's company on a no-bid contract](https://arktimes.com/arkansas-blog/2024/04/30/the-stupidest-scandal-how-a-19k-lectern-stole-the-show), including a $2,500 consultation fee to her friend?

I mean they did wonders tho! They really made that horse look like Kristi Noem. I thought it's really her.
7

I don’t like Noem but it’s not really okay to refer to her as a horse. Plenty of other things to attack her on
25
Shenanigans99 Mar 23, 2026 +10
Plus it's extremely unfair to horses, any of whom would have been a much better DHS sec than Kristi Noem.

3

So how much was spent on the horse makeup?
3

Why the long but very attractive face? Edit: Barbie was very upset that the horse's makeover looked better than hers. Check the invoices for a horse execution.

You all are focused on the wrong thing. This is how ad agencies work (I know because I used to own one and spent many years in the industry): Usually the way it works is: \- A company sends Request for Proposals (RFP) to multiple ad agencies, describing their goals and budget \- Ad agencies come up with a pitch on how to best use that budget (creative, messaging, targeting, etc.) \- Company chooses a w***** \- Ad agency develops the campaign and executes around it \- They take fees as a % of the budget (sometimes fixed fees but usually %) So, let's use assume, with positive intent, a common scenario for the average company: \- A company spends $200,000,000 on an ad campaign \- An agency may take 10-30% as a fee (depending on how much $ is being spent, how badly they want or need the business) \- The remaining money is spent on production costs and the actual ad buy The \*majority\* of the money is the ad buy. So let's say $200 million. Cut away 30% for the fee. That's $60,000,000. Budget: \- 139 million for ad spend \- 60 million for fees \- 380k for production costs The 139 million for ad spend--whatever, you can easily spend that kind of money for reach. Ad spend is extremely expensive. That's TV ads, Internet ads, billboards, etc. Whatever. In this scenario, we know that the "ad agency" though is her friend. So you guys are focused on 380k, but you should be focused on the 60 million. In fact, we don't even know if the fee was 30%. What if it was 60%? And they spent 40% on actual ads? Because this was given to her friend--and no competition involved, he could have charged her whatever right? That's them pocketing money. Is he cutting her a check in some other way? Stop fighting over the makeup and the horse. It's a lot of money but who gives a f***. Go find out how much her friend pocketed and follow that money.

I'm wondering if the 'magic store' is like a Spencer's or something similar, given the rumors going around about her plane incident. (Where she had that meltdown at an Air Force pilot over a misplaced bag, bag supposedly contained items of an intimate nature/related to her fling with Corey Lewandowski).
