It ultimately wasn’t even to prevent them being paid, since ICE has more than enough funding to continue operations. What *really* sucks is that this shutdown is happening because the Trump admin not only refuses very basic reforms for officer accountability and protection of public safety, but also considers the insane amount of money already allocated to ICE - much of which is basically an oversight-free slush fund - to *still* not be enough to keep the greedy b****** happy.
