Dhurandhar: The Revenge: Here’s why this 4-hour epic is turning into a box office phenomenon
Ever since its release, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has become the talk of the town. From housefull theatres to trending social media reviews, the film is sparking widespread buzz. What’s surprising is that despite its long runtime, audiences agree it’s anything but “boring.” While most lengthy films test patience, ‘Dhurandhar’ does the opposite—its sharp detailing and gripping narrative make the nearly four-hour journey feel seamless. I used to enjoy Bollywood movies. They were fun and lighthearted with gorgeous scenery, addictive songs and progressive (but wholesome) messages.  I don't really get Bollywood of today or what it has been for the last 10 years. It feels jingoist, tribal, overly nationalist and Hindu-centric.  I really thought that at some point an Indian movie would win at the Oscars but it feels as if cinema in other countries are overtaking them.

The cinema you refer to is still being made in India but that's not the only cinema that India makes.  Regional cinema for example has no rosy tinted appeal to it, its raw and real and you need to find it, but I am not sure if you have seen anything beyound stereotypical Bollywood hits. To ask bollywood to make feel good films is boxing it. People like avante grande style and recent movies like Animal, RRR, Kalki, Dhurandhar, and KGF have provided it. Yes it might look slightly high on testerone right now because of lack of female superstar in current Gen. But it does not mean its bad film making.  I know Bollywood became famous world wide with foreign location dance sequences but in today's age Indians themselves are bored of this style that outsiders have always called as cringe. If you look at Dhurandhar its a well executed film. Films are for art it cannot be looked for social messaging.

Joseph Gobbles can learn so much from Bollywood movies these days, how to keep a billion people deluded.

It’s a fun f****** movie. Are the politics of it problematic? Yes. Both can be true at the same time. It’s an Indian Tarantino movie.
