Saint Paul, MN had over 100k attend!
Edit: Star Trib is reporting 200k+
And an additional 100k+ in Minneapolis.
That's like 10%+ of the Twin Cities metro population!!!

Are protests posts getting suppressed by listnook or does US not really care about them?
Currently there is only a single post about 'no kings' on top 100 popular in US: https://www.listnook.com/r/popular/?geo_filter=US

Its being suppressed by listnook. They took r/all away from most people here. They suppressed r/all in small groups of listnook at a time too so the whole website didn't know all at once. People just woke up one day all was gone with no listnook announcement. Now they try to force feed you their algorithm in popular which is super cherry picked now and just as controlling as tik tok and other social media garbage. Only the ogs know how to navigate this website like it used to be.

I was just talking about this with my partner -- it really feels like listnook is just suppressing posts. Thousands of protests across the country, and yet somehow you can't find much of anything on here? I saw some posts that seemed like general safety tips getting deleted by moderators of different city subs

Yeah I was expecting loads of posts and got really confused when I ctrf+f "no kings" and found a single posts.
I dunno whats worse; the non-protesting crowd just don't care or listnook actually supressing - both alternatives suck.

Just got back from one in Orlando, FL! Thankfully, there were multiple throughout the area. I went to one of the smaller ones after I got off work. Even still, there was probably about 150 people there. We were at a busy intersection, and every few seconds we'd have someone honking and waving at us.
Keep up the pressure, folks. A lot more people than you think are sick of this f****** clown. What encouraged me the most was how many old white people were showing support. This one really sweet old lady rolled down her window and shouted that she'd be out with us if she could stand for more than a few minutes.
It may not always feel like it, but there are more of us than there are of them.

Attended one in Ann Arbor, Michigan today. I was also very pleasantly surprised to see an enormous number of older white people. Don’t get me wrong, it’s Ann Arbor, but was still so warming to see the crowd march for miles and occupy downtown.
Keep the flame alive. Our congressmen and women are watching. It is in their best interest to represent our interests, so keep being loud and present.

No where near equivalent but a good showing. Did that march and hands across Arlington. Both had excellent turnout but the Women’s March and March for our lives were significantly more. Which makes sense as those were centralized events not the tons of events happening today

Have been watching a bit of the Minneapolis protest live (I’m Canadian so no protest nearby to join), and it baffles me how every speaker is basically preaching some form of ‘Love thy neighbour’ sentiment, and RepubliKKKans hear this and think to themselves “Wow these far left domestic terrorists who don’t hate brown people and care about being compassionate are clearly the bad guys”

It’s very disappointing to see and deeply frustrates me, at least here in Canada, I don’t need to agree with everyone’s political views to get along with them. But there is a minority of our people that are basically MAGA north, and they are so f****** insufferable and can’t hold a debate for the life of them over policies or values, and yet are always the loudest ‘smartest’ person in the room. If half my countries people acted this way, I genuinely would be immigrating somewhere.

Went to a protest in a smaller town in CA - at the last one a bunch of trump humpers came out to counter protest (maybe a dozen or so throughout the day vs 1000+ protestors). This time around I only saw a single dude with a trump flag drive through once and he was gone

Springfield, MO - Most of our busy intersections have had a ton of protestors at them all day. One of our main thoroughfares was also lined with them. It's been very good to see the city be so active. Traffic has been absolutely crazy as well. I think it's been worse than holiday shopping traffic.
My wife gave birth to twins yesterday! I'm not protesting today as a result, but I plan to teach them the importance of activism in the future.

"Hey there, welcome to Earth! Thank you for choosing Earth as your home planet! We will be your parents for the duration of your stay. All things considered, things are admittedly pretty sucky around here right now, but now that you're here, it's going to be a better place."

I live on a suburb of DFW. I normally go to Dallas which is pretty large, but saw there was actually one scheduled for my city. There has never been much activity on my actual city, so was curious to check it out. Also wanted to bring my 6 year old, so thought this would make things way easier.
Pleasantly surprised to see a large group gathered outside city hall - holding signs along a very busy street. Hung out for an hour - honks from cars were overwhelmingly supportive. Got a chance to meet some other residents who were looking to get plugged in, and ended up in a group chat called "Ladies Fighting Fascism."
Even though it was way way smaller than some of the ones I've attended, it was great to actually have the chance to authentically connect with folks on a ground level.

I’ve heard numbers of turnout up to 9 million. If true that’s mighty impressive. I’m not one for the 3.5% rule but it’s still quite a showing. If I was the GOP would be a tad concerned with November.

5 million last June, 7 million last October, at *least* 8 million this time around:
[Millions turn out for "No Kings" rallies held worldwide to protest against Trump](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/no-kings-rallies-protest-trump-millions/)
>U.S. organizers had estimated that the first two rounds of No Kings rallies drew more than 5 million people in June and 7 million in October. On Saturday, they estimated that at least 8 million participants took part in more than 3,300 events worldwide.
According to Kevin M. Kruse:

>If the estimates were right, there were about 9 million people at No Kings rallies today.

We need to make sure that there is a protest scheduled prior to the midterms. Perhaps a couple of weeks before election day. This will give people a launch pad in their communities and also a visible force to show that the country wants this administration booted out of the office. It's gonna be especially important in areas that will be holding elections in red/purple districts.
Also, in the summer months we should also have a protest because that would be a good time to get community activists out with boots on the ground to educate people in their districts on how to register to vote depending on their district rules if they have changed. I say the summer months because that will give people time to order birth certificates if that's what's going to be needed to register. I imagine most of the people at the protests are going to know what they need to do, but educating other people there on what people need to do so that they can get the word/hype out to friends, families, coworkers, etc could be helpful

On the way back to my car (which is always parked farther away than I think it is) overheard a woman and her teenaged children talking about how it was a good first protest, the woman commenting on how surprised she was at just how non-violent and peaceful it was, not at all like they hear about on the news.
Attendance felt down today (possibly due to a ton of other events happening in the same general area of down town that would all appeal to that same crowd) but if even the people who think it may turn violent are bringing their KIDS, we're at some sort of turning point, I think.

>It’s getting the remaining two thirds to act in accordance with the best interests of the majority
The biggest hurdle has always been getting folks to lock in and be vigilant when election season rolls around.
I suspect a lot of people like to think the mis/disinformation campaigns mostly aim to convince folks to turn out for the GOP, but it's also invaluable to the same bad actors to force wedges between the opposition.
Folks left-of-center need to be wary of 3rd party candidates who clearly dont have a chance yet stay in the running, and having their bleeding hearts used against them. Democracy needs to take top priority, as no other issue or policy matters if the fascists stay in control.

He’s not **literally** an appointed king, but he is an illiberal, authoritarian tyrant. The point in comparing him to a king is to say that the US was founded on principles of freedom from tyrants, thus we should reject him and his behavior. Additionally, things can always “get worse”. Should we be waiting until some arbitrary point to make an argument for certain labels? I think that someone who isn’t fully “king-like” but is actively becoming more and more tyrannical can absolutely be criticized for their tyranny using “king” as a simple, catchy, and politicized figure of speech. It’s not some kind of gotcha contest. People are standing up for their safety, wellbeing, democracy, and freedoms. They’re showing solidarity with their neighbors.

What’s the definition of a king? He starts wars without congressional approval. He enacts taxes without congressional approval. He dispatches ICE to airports without congressional approval. A king is one man who controls the government single handedly. You can call him a president or a czar or a janitor but you all stood by while he seized the power to become America’s first king. Get out of the way while I save democracy for you. Or don’t, I’m doing it anyways.
