they all did chip and dale **AND** the naked gun. So in terms of batting average, these 3 have me ready to see whatever weird silly thing this is going to be

I laughed my ass off watching Chip n Dale, more than my little niece and nephew at the time

This sounded like a bad idea but now it's suddenly incredible just because Akiva Schaffer is calling the shots with his writing team. Good to know this is going to be a deeply funny satire (probably of Disney live-action remakes) instead of just a "the stepsisters are misunderstood" Disney reboot idea.

If it has some similar energy as Enchanted (especially with Akiva's style), I'm all for it

Something like Tucker & Dale with The Ugly Stepsisters? Cinderella is an a****** that dishes out hits but then can't take a single poke back? But Cindy is pretty so now the entire kingdom hates the three?

I will watch anything the Lonely Islands boys are involved in. As you say this sounded like a shit idea, but with Akiva doing it I'd actually probably go to the cinema to watch it.

There was already a [very non Disney](https://TheUglyStepsisterhttps://share.google/BA0ueXxsmfkiXEb23) version of this.

I would take an original spinoff title from the perspective of different charecters any day over the boring live action retelling of the same old IP. Lion King 1.5 was the shit.

100%. I don’t get why Disney hasn’t done more of this in lieu of just live-action copies of what we’ve already seen. One of the reasons Cruella is still one of the best ones they’ve done IMO.

Because when they did it with Maleficent, people called it a Wicked ripoff. And that was before the movies came out for that property lol

Akiva did a great job with the Chip 'n Dale movie, so I have faith this will be better than people expect

Hopefully Jorm and Andy will play the sisters.

There’s also The Ugly Stepsister last year and Steps this year that basically already do this in different ways.

Chip n Dale/naked gun 2025 team. Why this isn’t referenced in the title, I don’t know.

Anyone ever listen to Doodie Calls with Doug Mand? That podcast was the best and I wish he'd make more.

Slight correction: it was a *tape*worm.

correct, mi scusi

Comic_Book_Reader Mar 24, 2026 +1
That scene went on for like half a minute and went from just f****** disgusting to borderline comical.
1
snarpy Mar 24, 2026 +1
Oh more than half a minute for sure No question it was borderline comical on purpose

Akiva Schaffer is our generation’s Harold Ramis? Debate and discuss
3
riegspsych325 Mar 24, 2026 +2
that’s actually an apt comparison. But what does that make of Jorma Taccone?
2
aerikson Mar 25, 2026 +2
He's the Brian Doyle Murray of the crew. Andy is the Bill Murray.

wow ... they are really milking the beloved animated movies. Didn't learn anything from Snow White, uh?
1
Konan_92 Mar 24, 2026 +1
But the real question is, are they going to get stuck?

I really hope that the twist is that there isn’t a twist. They are the main characters, and they are still absolutely horrible. Maybe they go up against two other horrible siblings and it’s like The War of the Roses where neither side is sympathetic and you just enjoy watching bad things happen to absolutely everyone.

Ugly Stepsister on shudder was dope btw

Disney probably saw The Ugly Stepsister and decided to jump on the bandwagon and do like all the others in Hollywood when a small Scandinavian movie gains international success. That being said, like with Over Your Dead Body, I am little optimistic given the people involved, even if that movie pretty much looks like the original verbatim, even having the same cinematographer.

Oh no. They’re going to make the stepsisters misunderstood victims. Calling it now

Once again, Disney fails to learn the lessons it should have after the revisionist *Snow White* tanked. (Even if you happen to like it... come on, be honest. It's a revionist take at best.) Meet the new Disney brass. Same as the old one.

TyposIncoming Mar 24, 2026 +5
What lesson should they have learned from Snow White?
5
KingMario05 Mar 24, 2026
Don't change what works.

JaesopPop Mar 24, 2026 +2
So you want them to make the same thing over and over?
2
pulpfriction4 Mar 24, 2026 +2
I'd say most of Disney's classic movies that everyone loves are revisionist takes
