It kinda feels like Iger has a habit of setting up his successor to do the dirty work that's gonna piss everyone off.

New CEO for the company laid me and others for eliminating our roles. Heard that one.

Everyone saw this coming, why the WGA got that deal done.
After awards season, all layoffs start.

The WGA is partially to blame for all the IATSE jobs going to the EU and UK. Their strike was too long and impacted all the downstream workers.
LA can't catch a break.

That 8,000 was probably part of a larger cost savings. For discussion sake, Figuring an average of $100k/yr plus benefits, bonuses, and other compensation, those 8,000 alone would have saved the company about 1 to 1.5 billion. So there has to be other items in that 7.8 amount.

A big part of it is office consolidation too. They had planned to move Imagineering wholesale to Florida from California (which was eventually scrapped) for instance. Things like that (assuming they went ahead) can save loads of money. Same with picking different filming locations.

This guy has already signaled he's going to turn Disney into UGC gaming. He's rumored to want to buy Epic Games.

At least the Disney shareholders will be OK. They’re the real victims after all
