Soap people live in a dystopian world separated by scent. The Detergent .

The twist: everyone in the society is nose blind…. Except for the few scented detergents

Wait, wait, let’s workshop this… the lemon scented faction doses everyone with nose blinding chemicals; it turns out everyone is actually all smells, they just tend to have a dominant note, which is all the normally *mostly* nose blind can smell! But with the help of the charcoal faction, Fab-Triss realizes that a special few are *equally fragrant, across all the notes!* WE ARE ON TO SOMETHING HERE

When these are done, I will read these instead of the OG books as my first experience.

The first two books are okay. The third book is f****** awful.

The last book was f****** awful. I do not trust her to write anything else. I'm all for main characters dying but in this case it made absolutely 0 sense.

She stays trying to ride Suzanne Collins’ coattails in the dystopian YA novel world. Weird behavior tbh!!!

This is silly.

Or maybe she just felt inspired to write an alternate version of her story and maybe it’s bad faith criticism to constantly compare divergent to the hunger games.

It’s not bad faith to compare it with genre contemporaries. It’s bad faith to have a YA dystopian series and demand that it be judged in a vacuum. Particularly since it released at time when the genre was getting some incredible stories as well as some incredibly blatant cash grabs. Divergent was fine, but by many readers standards it was not top tier. The competition and comparisons highlight its strengths and its weaknesses.

Yea, bc H.G invented the genre ....

Why compare it to that? Divergent was a huge hit and fans want more, and she’s giving it.
