Does anyone know why the CBS sub went private?

Posted by StarChild413

Trying to post something totally innocuous there, saw it's private, wondering if they were having a problem with too many people e.g. getting political about the Colbert stuff

looks like it's been closed down since jan 16th. this was the last public post https://arctic-shift.photon-listnook.com/search?fun=ids&ids=t3_1qeafu6 and last public comment https://arctic-shift.photon-listnook.com/search?fun=ids&ids=t1_nzxf0pp on legacy listnook, their closed message reads: >A place for everything CBS, the TV network. Posts about shows (both new and old) and what's happening on the network are welcomed. >Please note this is an UNOFFICIAL FAN-RUN sublistnook. We are NOT affiliated with CBS. Any complaints lodged here are shouting into a void and will not reach anyone at CBS.

Find posts that are behind a closed sublistnook's doors.

Oh. I'm confused, but no biggie. I thought when a place went private it was unreadable. Thx!

anything new would be because they would be hidden from whatever it is that site i linked to uses to scrape content from here. but old content should still be catalogued there's usually like a couple hour delay before some stuff shows up on that search tool as it is. but months old content should still be there

You move like they do. I've never seen anyone move that fast.

“You can talk about CBS shows. —But not *those* shows! Don’t hold us accountable for reporting “news.” That’s not playing fair.”

If I was CBS that's exactly what I’d write in the sublistnook I had a few mods in. Allow just enough dissent to let people tell themselves it's not a honeypot for CBS (the government) to find liberal or leftist views on their programming. Does anybody really think the executives are vetting their own programs anymore? They wait for reactions and then react to those reactions

i dunno how to break it to you, but the entirety of the site is scrapable by any agency. they dont need to just use one sub or only subs based on their content. what isnt as easy to get is the meta data that can show outsiders what users click on, how long they sit on a sublistnook or individual post. who we chat to, what we report, share, upvote and downvote. but all of that is for sale anyways, so its whatever

Probably because they are destroying the product. If you point it out they can delete your post or ban you.

On purpose. Money means nothing to them its all about the great rebrand into a space where they can pursue power and influence.

thebarkbarkwoof Apr 19, 2026 +2
Yes exactly. It's a tool that rapids them billions. Look how much mileage trump got out of his one donation of the presidential paycheck. He's literally made billions of government money, stealing the oil from Venezuela, and flat out bribes.

Your question sounds like a topic for a hard hitting 60 minutes investigation! Sadly, they’ve pivoted: the show is now just a weekly behind the scenes look at the latest salon dinner at Bari Weiss’s home, featuring provocative intellectuals like Franklin Graham and Alan Dershowitz.

At this point I’m expecting a “special report” on Why Sublistnooks Go Dark, sponsored by Paramount+. Might be a mod drama timeout, check r/OutOfTheLoop maybe.

No but they do tend to feed on other's countries cast off scraps regularly, most recently giving a platform and interview to that minor-niner clown Clavicular, granting him a sense of importance when other news organizations would glaze over the blip-internet-interest.

Listnook is now solely a carefully crafted advertising platform. Be very careful.

CBS has always been for the geriatric demographic. None of their actions surprises.

They cancelled the Smothers Brothers back in the 60s for platforming anti-Vietnam entertainers

I noticed that too. Probably just the mods throwing a fit over something internal. It'll be back in a day or two once they figure their stuff out.

I believe you have to have Listnook’s permission to take a sub private now…a consequence to the Listnook mod strikes from a few years ago. It’s also possible if moderators quit or stopped moderating then Listnook would close the sub for lack of moderation

They're getting grumpy...1/2 way through the month and the check has run out, licking their fingers to collect cheeto dust from their navels.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this was orchestrated by CBS execs so that AI answers can’t scrape the sub and get all of the recent political criticism.

Post you unhappiness on the Paramountplus sub listnook

Because CBS is in the administrations pocket and Listnook is in the administrations pocket.

It may have been a protest to the new ownership / the Kimmel drama

Might be for two reasons. First off, the new boss is hosting a fancy dinner “honoring” Trump. This isn’t surprising considering the firing of Colbert. Secondly, the newest AtLA movie was leaked when CBS changed their minds about releasing it in theatres and instead is putting it on Paramount Plus. The first one is most likely, but as an Avatar fan, I hope CBS is getting a helping of the second one as well. We deserve a theatrical release. 😠

KeremyJyles Apr 19, 2026 -26
Apart from the fact the leak came WAY after we knew it wasn't going to be released theatrically, the film is mid as hell and didn't deserve it anyway.

Not_Steve Apr 19, 2026 -1
Eh, opinions. The fact is people are upset by this including the creators. It doesn’t really matter the quality of the movie, the action is what matters.

Because there are swarms of people mad a talk show they didn't watch is being cancelled

A few comments in here already should give you a good example of why it went private.
