Nah they're investigating to make sure others who aren't them haven't figured out the scam and are profiting. Those market scams are for them to profit from and no one else, of course.

They're investigating it only because they're trying to build a case to defend Trump and other administration officials who almost certainly did this, not to prosecute them. This DOJ has no concern for the law in how it can bind their own, only how it can be used to harm the people opposing them.

I came here to say this. Exactly what they will say when they find a whole bunch of Trump regime folks behind these. Likely Trump’s idiot grifting family too. The DOJ is a beholden, broken, untrustworthy institution.

Honestly I think it’s just a warning to his own people who may be beginning to show some doubt about the whole Iran war situation. Classic move you can see all over in places like china. Everyone does the same corrupt stuff and it’s not a problem, but when someone starts shit then all of a sudden it matters. You’ll probably see findings being inconclusive once they pipe down

> On March 23, 15 minutes before Trump announced that he would delay threatened attacks on Iran's power grid, traders bet more than $500 million that oil prices would fall.   > On April 21, 15 minutes before Trump announced he would extend the ceasefire, traders placed a series of bets worth $430 million that oil prices would fall. But Trump donated his $400k salary, so obviously he's not in it for the money.

I had to hear this from relatives in the first term, that "trump is rich, so he wont take bribes, he doesnt need the money" Like, they never met any rich people? The ONLY thing the rich care about is their money. They'll sell their children for a nickel apiece and cheer over the profit

"Utterly politicized and compromised DOJ pretends to investigate obvious and rampant insider trading benefitting Republicans and their financiers." Our institutions are infiltrated and corrupt. America is a zombie husk of what it once was due to legalized bribery and corporate corruption and right wing extremism, but many of us don't smell the sweet stench of decay yet.

$2.6 billion is the tip. Treasury sanctioned a single China-based network last year that moved $8.4 billion in Iranian oil payments. The DOJ is looking at the trades the government can trace. The ones it can't are the ones that matter.

I'm still going with my theory. The kid that runs his truth tweets, the ones that aren't unhinged, has been placing bets for the last year and a half and he's turned that $20 he got for shoveling grannies driveway into several hundred million. Right before he makes a post that he knows will move the needle he makes a bet and then makes a bundle.

honestly, what's the use of the doj of doing anything to keep itself accountable when it's already terribly compromised? 😭😭 if Trump is so gung-ho on oil and fossil fuel combined with the illegal influence he has on other wise independent institutions, what makes any of us think this is even worthwhile to report or even read?

lol. Probably only probing so they know whose trades to copy next time. This regime is so corrupt, its unbelievable. America's elections aren't valid, your rights have been suspended, the supreme court subverter, and a demented insurrectionist plays the president on TV, and the constitution doesn't even matter anymore. And hardly any resistance to the take over. Pretty pathetic and sad. Enslaved by billionaires you don't even know.
