She was a treasure as well! I’ve been doing a bunch of genealogy for my family recently and discovered that Betty was actually a distant cousin. Not that it matters really, just kinda fun to see how we all came to be and who all sits on the branches of the trees.

Dolly has been a icon since I was a little girl. She was brazen and bold and wore the highest heels I had seen. She sent books via her Imagination Library to my son up until he was 5 and her voice sounds like home. Godsspeed ma’am, you take all the time you need. We love you.

There was an episode of "Designing Women" where Charlene (Jean Smart) is in the hospital to deliver her baby. She has a dream wherein she meets her "guardian movie star", an angel. The angel is played by Dolly Parton. A very old black woman is dying in the hospital at the same time and the final scene is Dolly greeting the old woman. I defy anyone to watch that episode with dry eyes.

I highly doubt she’d cancel her Las Vegas residency for plastic surgery. Not to mention that she’s reached an age where anesthesia is becoming increasingly risky for her and doctors may refuse to do elective surgeries depending on how frail she is.

I was going to say I am not sure how many responsible doctors are going to do any intensive plastic surgery on a 79/80 year old. Even medically necessary surgeries need to be weighed against the risks of undergoing anesthesia at that age.

Given what I’ve seen from plastic surgeries and celebrities… I’d say there are plenty of doctors who are not concerned. That being said, I’m not sure this has anything to do with plastic surgery, I’m assuming it’s mentioned because she’s had a lot over the decades.
