What’s the argument for breaking the ceasefire? theoretically there’s 10 more days to keep negotiating.
1
NMe84 5 hr ago +1
He's doing exactly what Papa Putin wants him to do, though. He's tanking the world economy and as a result strengthening a country that has been mostly operating outside of it since the year it invaded Ukraine. He also weakened NATO and all western alliances in general. I don't have any proof that Trump is a Russian asset, but I couldn't imagine a Russian asset doing a better job at screwing the entire world to benefit Russia than Trump has been doing.

No_Iron_8087 14 hr ago +1106
The continuation of a two month long war after a brief ceasefire is hardly a “limited operation”. In fact, with no end in sight, it’s quite the opposite — an unlimited operation, if you will

redyellowblue5031 13 hr ago +361
You idiot, it’s not a “war”, it’s an “operation”. And if it *was* a war—WHICH ITS NOT—we’ve already won at least 5 times.
361
Broken_Reality 13 hr ago +83
You idiot, it's not a "war" or "operation" it's an "excursion". Just like Trump used to go on with his dad. Who hasn't been in an EXCURSION! They are totally normal things that totally don't involve threats to wipe out entire civilisations because you are losing at Risk.

redyellowblue5031 12 hr ago +7
Ah shit, you’re right. I am an idiot.

I’ve noticed that the people who rushed to tell us that this isn’t a real war have stopped talking. Mike Johnson is hiding in his closet somewhere.

It ends when he fires Pete for this disaster that he got us into. Nobody warned Trump that this could go wrong. This was just poorly planned and executed and for that Pete is Fired. He will be replaced by Jared his son in law who knows how to deal with those people. Nevermind about his top security clearance not being approved. We will just have him close his eyes when we show that stuff. Thank you for your attention to this matter. /s

Trump fired everyone that would have warned Trump that anything the petulant little man-baby wanted to do was wrong; that was the one and only thing he learned from his first administration.

This is exactly why they fired so many generals.
9
Spork_King_Of_Spoons 8 hr ago +4
General Caine told him point blank the Israelis are hard selling us on this operation and this is a bad idea and trump didn't listen. Even his yes men told him no, this is 100% trumps war and trump's fault.

I really am anxious to see those cards start collapsing. Looking forward to hearing the mental gymnastics the bot/vocal maga crowd will say to try and justify it and their support this time. Hell, he could probably say "hagseth is really Obama in a mask" and they would take it as gospel without question.

SHUT_DOWN_EVERYTHING 12 hr ago +5
They’re calling it a “limited operation” so they can skip the 60 day requirement for congressional approval. The weird part would be when they have to explain to the same congress the need for $200,000,000,000 in funding for a limited operation.
5
emp_sanfords_hardhat 13 hr ago +3
No no you have it wrong. It's a 'limited _edition_' operation. It means that it is similar to a regular operation, only there will appear unique, therefore cost more.
3
MultiGeometry 11 hr ago +2
Didn’t they ask for $50,000,000,000 for the limited operation in Iran? I need to expand my budget for that small renovation I have planned.
2

Hey now, some grew a backbone and threatened to veto trumps ceasefire because they wanted more war.
10
_THEWATERB0Y_ 13 hr ago +45
I know Congress doesn’t matter anymore apparently. But does this farce of a ceasefire reset the 60 day clock Trump is supposed to have to end military operations without congressional approval?

They’ll say it does if it suits them.
38
NOFORPAIN 13 hr ago +10
Doesn't need 60 days, its not a war! Remember?!
10
jvttlus 12 hr ago +6
the moment the ordinance implants in the zone of operations, it becomes a war!
6
davossss 12 hr ago +9
He's only required to end in 60 days if a War Powers Resolution is passed by Congress. They (GOP) have voted these resolutions down multiple times.
9
XennialBoomBoom 11 hr ago +6
> a War Powers Resolution I think you mean "an authorization for use of military force" or an "official declaration of war" The War Powers Resolution was a specific joint resolution of Congress in 1973 which *generously* allows the President to do whatever fuckery he wants for 60 days without permission from Congress.
6
davossss 4 hr ago +1
No, I meant War Powers Resolution. AUMFs and declarations of war are for presidents who respect the authority of Congress and seek their approval first. Obviously this does not describe Trump. I agree that the War Powers Act gives the president too much power, but ultimately War Powers Resolutions are a way for Congress to rein in the president. We are currently in the worst of all worlds with a belligerent, reckless, imperial POTUS enabled by Congress's (GOP's) tacit approval.
1
fuzzygroove 7 hr ago +1
I might be misunderstanding the system as I am not an American, but isn’t ‘Congress’ supposed to be made up of representatives of the people? You lot? Why does congress keep being referred to as its own entity (and being spineless) when what you’re actually saying is trump has defanged the people’s power to stop him

Trump is a moron who has no ability to plan or negotiate. He's has no idea where to go after "I'll tell them what to do and they'll do it" fails.
9
Foooour 8 hr ago +3
Exactly, he literally only has one move - to strongarm the other party into submission. >"*Give me what I want or I'll hit you with tariffs*" >"*Give me what I want or I'll f****** end your civilization*" The tactic stays the same, he just ups the ante.
3
SirDale 12 hr ago +2
...and then he realises he has another 3 years as president and he's going to own this problem until then. Not sure how he'll try and walk away from it apart from sacking everyone around him. But the problem will still be there.

9
billytheskidd 12 hr ago +6
This is really just a way to get around the war powers act. It allows him 60 days of military operations while awaiting a declaration of war by congress. But he doesn’t want a declaration of war. So, call à ceasefire, withdraw the troops from active combat, “negotiate”, no deal reached, new military operations unrelated to the first one. See the first one was because….. nukes. Or because their nuclear program was obliterated but maybe not. This one is because negotiations to open the strait failed, Vance’s fault by the way. Vance couldn’t get Iran to agree on terms to open the strait so now America must attack again to open the strait that was open but closed because their obliterated nuclear program was weeks away from warheads.

1
kayakyakr 13 hr ago +8
Ironically, the best way out of this mess for Trump, at this point, is to just shrug, claim victory, and withdraw the military from the region. But he can't do that because it would hurt his pride. Bibi for sure isn't going to let him do that. And then there's whiskey Pete, who will only let him walk away if it's to point the military at some other sovereign nation. Or really anyone. He just wants to play war.

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the subsequent oil price hike increases the profits of Trump's American oil buddies, increases demand for Putin's oil, and hurts Putin's European enemies. I actually think Trump wants the strait closed.

> US President Donald Trump is considering resuming a limited military operation on Iranian targets as a response to the failure in negotiations with Iran, The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday. >According to the report, US officials have considered an operation centered on specific targets to gain additional leverage against the regime in an eventual new round of talks. >The officials also said that, even if the option is unlikely in the short-term, Trump is also considering the full resumption of the bombing campaign against the Iranian regime.
5
IntelArtiGen 14 hr ago +8
> even if the option is unlikely in the short-term, Trump is also considering the full resumption of the bombing campaign against the Iranian regime. "Unlikely", well this ceasefire will end, it expires on April 22. After that, if there is no agreement, it's possible the war will resume.
