The problem is that if we want to *begin* repairing the damage he and his administration have done is that we need him and a majority of his cabinet to do prison time. We need to show the wealthy and powerful that the law applies to them too. Otherwise, this will keep happening until the country truly fall apart due to all spoils the billionaire class is taking from the rest of us. Roads need repair? No, we need 10 more missiles. Social Security? Sorry, we can’t fund it anymore even though you paid in to it for the past thirty years. But we definitely need to increase funding to the pentagon. Will anyone face charges? Maybe one or two cronies will be fed to the chopping block, but unless something changes I highly doubt anyone will be held accountable.

The whole administration needs to go under Article II Section 4 of the Constitution. It's there for a reason, and this administration is exactly it.

It will never cease to amaze me how many people will either play stupid and say "I did not vote for this!" or refuse to admit that they voted for this. When this horror show timeline is all said and done, millions of registered voters will never come clean about voting for this and unless they learn the hard way, I doubt they will change because they are morally broken.

Due to some really bad decisions in government, mostly the supreme court and DOJ, the president is effectively above the law, so there is no way for him to be tried for treason or held accountable for anything until after he's removed from office. Also the DOJ is basically Trump's personal law firm at this point, so we currently have no one to actually arrest him outside of his own personal team. So the reason none of that has a petition is because it is all step 2... or step n+1, where step n is impeaching him. I would personally argue that impeaching Bondi, Patel, Hegseth, and RFK Jr. should all happen before that, not because it is more just, but because it is politically expedient to undercut Trump's support and train any of the GOP to start leaning away from MAGA. GOP senators are afraid to go against Trump because they are afraid of their base. If the base starts turning against the cabinet, they can turn senators against them, and then against Trump after he's lost support from everyone. The Iran war and Epstien files are finally starting to erode some of Trump's support. I'm not particularly happy that such a slow process is needed, but it seems like the most reasonable path. If a better one appears I'd love to see it happen.

I think you're right, AND I think it would do us a lot of good to get rid of this symptom. Like, vomiting is a symptom of the flu, but if you can treat that symptom long enough to get food, water, and rest, you'll be okay. If you can't treat that symptom, then your risk of dying from the flu gets worse. It might be easier to educate people without specifically having Trump in the way. It might be easier to dismantle the right wing media monopoly without Trump interfering at every step. It might be possible to start working towards a functioning justice system without Trump showcasing that he doesn't follow any rules and faces no consequences.

It's a cult of personality. Once he's gone, there is no one that can replace him so even if someone could fill in the void left by him, he wont have the same firm grasp on the maga crowd as dumpy does. Yes, it wont get rid of the overall problem but sometimes it isn't until you get rid of the zit does the body have to opportunity to heal.

I am of the opinion that it is both true that there will still be systematic and structural problems after Trump bites it and that things will still get much better after he dies.
