Hey, at least he didn’t threaten a human and cultural genocide this time?
We have standards around here, and the line is apparently somewhere before threatening genocide/mutually assured destruction. We’ll see about genocide and ending the world as we know it next week, or whatever.

-Among your friends, who benefits the most from this action?

An average politician would answer like this: “hardworking American families are my friends and that’s who stands to benefit”.
Trump would say something like “Who are you with? The Failing New York Times? You know that’s an ugly question from a third rate reporter from a failing disgraceful newspaper. You’re horrible and you’re ugly too.”
Journalists can’t force politicians to answer honestly.

With how much he's clearly not well I question how much is deliberate by him vs everyone else in his orbit just using the information or "advising him" in order to benefit.
I absolutely believe there's fuckery abound of course. I just don't believe for a moment there's not a very long list of folks who deserve to end their days in a cell along side President Pants Shitter.

+23
Oh absolutely. This is essentially the highest level you could possibly go with insider trading.
Trump let's his buddies know when and what stock to buy.
Trump makes an announcement he KNOWS will drop stock prices.
Then Trump makes announcement that bounces stocks back up.
But it's going to be *really f****** funny* when he pulls this same stunt and stocks bounce like a dead cat, meaning they *stay* low... because then our economy will be truly FUCKED lol.
23
Aspergian_Asparagus8 hr ago
+9
That’s the thing I’m wondering, at what point does their stock manipulation/insider trading scheme stop working and we’re just mega-ultra-fucked?
I guess most folks are okay with it right now cuz they can probably make a lil money themselves, since it’s somewhat predictable. But there HAS to be a limit where it just isn’t an effective scheme anymore.
9
BreesusTakeTheWheel8 hr ago
+4
It is starting to get to that point. Trump is having to actually pull some stunts since the market stopped reacting to his crazy tweets. That’s what the ceasefire was all about. He came up with that because the market wasn’t reacting to anything he was saying anymore.

Americans will invent any story in their heads as long it helps them deny that they have chosen to be ruled by a cruel idiot. The selfish financial schemes of an imagined 5D chess Bond villain genius is way more palatable than the flailing of an incompetent shortsighted sadist.
It doesn't matter if the markets have been behaving unpredictably to Trump's announcements for months, or that the administration has a million better ways to game the market than with vast geopolitical statements, everything *has* to be a scheme. It can't be that the president is too surrounded by sycophants to handle foreign policy, or that Israel maneuvered Trump back into the quagmire - it has to be a rational and selfish financial scheme, always.

I am not so sure, I just Trump is just that stupid. People are profiting but are just opportunists. There are easier way to manipulate the market than a war. All the disasters, u-turns and threats are what happened when people who don't know how the world works gets into these positions.
The peace talks in Pakistan failed not because it was good for their stock positions but because JD "couch enthusiast" Vance doesn't know how high level diplomatic talks are handled.

He's flipping a switch and, no doubt, he and his pals are feasting on their foreknowledge to rip off the stock market and every single person in the world who has money in it or just plain money at all for that matter in the biggest most audacious bank heist of all time. He can just keep flipping it and skimming great milky hunks of cash off the top of the wave every time. He just scoops it up with a big super powered hoover vac. It's hard to describe the kind of disgust I feel for this because there's not really a word for it. It's next level disgust. And, on the other hand, I'm in awe at the dimensions of this robbery taking place in broad daylight, right in front of us. He is like a global sized reverse santa claus who keeps stuffing his magic sack fuller and fuller of wealth. It's impressively evil.

What little guys are you talking about? My understandind is that in the last 10 years the number of civilian american's killed by foreigner terror of all countries is around 13 or so. We've killed 2000 civilians in iran and lost 13 of our own soldiers +almost 400 wounded. Stopping terrorism is not a reasonable aim of this war and doesn't justify the billions spent and the lives lost so far. We have spent 33 billion so far. Assuming iran was the cause of all 13 people who died last decade from foreign terrorism (they are not by the way), you're talking paying 2.5 billion USD to prevent one death. Does that seem a good use of money when you can spend way less in the US right now on the people who live here and save lives (food, housing, healthcare, employment, education, etc etc)?

I don't want US deaths by terrorism either. But we gotta make wise choices. 9/11 was one thing (and even in hindsight the costs of the iraq and afghanistan wars didn't really justify what we wanted it to justify). Iran was posing no threat at all to us.
2
budhunter876 hr ago

The innocent people of Iran pose no threat but irgc and the other terrorist organization do and massacre their own people in iran
