This show is so great, and it covered so much. Midlife crises, loneliness, trust in relationships, relationship vulnerability, male friendships, unintended consequences, intimacy, sexual & societal norms, policing sterotypes... Good lord there was a lot packed in there. But seriously, it touches on all of them, and in a funny, deadpan kind of way. We (me and my wife) absolutely loved it.

It was brutal and depressing. Clark was not perfect by any means but he truly loved Floyd. One of the best male friendships I’ve seen portrayed on tv. Floyd’s story was just so sad. His line about feeling like he was starting to just disappear to people as he got older hit pretty hard. It’s true too. When you’re in your younger years, it feels like you know everyone and anyone. With age, you end up just another face in the crowd. This show definitely deserves every nom for miniseries. Linda Cardellini included. This was some of the best work I’ve ever seen out of her. Ngl, I’m totally going to start using her passive aggressive “Can you speak up???” to people that deserve it.

is it possible the character had hearing loss?

wunderl-ck Apr 15, 2026 +14
She was using techniques from the tape she listened to while running to help her assert dominance in situations.

Seagoon_Memoirs Apr 15, 2026 -6
Is that a bad thing? Also, it didn't work, Floyd still never listened to a word she said. If you read books about assertiveness there is always a caveat that the methods described don't work on people with personality disorders maybe she tried assertiveness, assertiveness comes from a place of believing everyone is equal, and she saw that didn't work, and it didn't, she spoke plainly and openly to Floyd , so then she tried dominance techniques because maybe that's all he knows maybe Floyd was a big sexist and didn't even consider that he should be freinds and equals with Carol

No…but, you just asked if maybe she had hearing loss. I was responding to that lol.

I'm just putting forward the premise that there may be reasons for all that we see and not negative reasons

👍🏽. You’re having your own conversation in your own reality. Enjoy the view.

Loved it. The murder mystery was always secondary and the ending wasn't a huge shock or twist but that actually made it better. I think a lot of people would have felt insulted if they tried to shoehorn in some ridiculous twist even though so many audience members are conditioned to it nowadays. I prefer the honesty and humanity. And this was one of the more absurdly human stories in a while.

I really loved this show, I’ve never seen anything like it: hugely tragic exploration of loneliness but with some truly wacky stuff layered in. I found the finale to be mesmerizing, just phenomenal acting. No notes. Well, one note: David Harbour’s fat suit was kind of distracting in some scenes :p

Had no idea that wasn’t his real physique…

Yea the illusion might have worked on some folks, but it was uncanny to the point where it didn't really seem necessary. Like the dude is already chubby enough, adding 20 pounds of gut doesn't change much. He could have just pushed out the gut he already has and it would have played the same. It almost looks like cgi, I am not sure it was actually prosthetic. Either way they shouldn't be winning awards for the special effects in this series

Loved the finale, it somehow balanced absolute emotional gut-punch with the weirdest bits of comedy. Only tiny note: the pacing in the last 10 minutes felt a bit rushed.

sad and masterful writing we have to look at facts and listen carefully, which is difficult when mental illness is being portrayed

i thought it was decent but not as strong as the earlier episodes, felt a bit rushed but still kinda satisfying overall

I'll be the counter voice here, it wasn't very good. Everybody is saying it was so deep and emotional but ehhh. It's not a show for everybody. I'm left wishing I hadn't watched it. edit: dissenting opinions will not be tolerated, huh? only the hive mind is correct.

I'm a completionist too and I managed to finish it but his death is so stupid and unnecessary that it pissed me off. It's the mystery that kicks off the story but in the end its dumb and pointless.

Amazing show. David Harbour deserves an Emmy for his performance.

Will someone explain how diner guy became Tiger Tiger after the original mixed Floyd? I missed that
1
Illustrious_Hawk_217 Apr 18, 2026 +1
The guy he met at the diner was named Modern Love. That guy or the guy Clark met at Denny's?
1
WiseRange2249 Apr 18, 2026 +1
I don't remember how Modern Love came into the picture. Clarks guy at the diner, I follow but the guy from Dennys is who I'm talking about.
1
WiseRange2249 Apr 18, 2026 +1
I don't remember how they contacted each other. He did the same thing Floyd wanted and what Calrk was wanting for him. That couldn't have been a coincidence?
1
Illustrious_Hawk_217 Apr 18, 2026 +1
SPOILER***** o Modern Love was the guy who actually was interested in Floyd but Floyd wasn't gay so he basically turned Modern Love down. But Floyd was such a sweet hearted guy he let Modern Love kiss him. Now. The guy at Dennys...he said he would meet Floyd but Clark was doing that whole thing as a self esteem boost. Clark actually loved and cared about Floyd. What ended up happening was the guy was supposed to meet up at the pool house and hook up with Floyd but the guy showed up a day early to "check Floyd out" and wasn't attracted so he turned it down.
