The idea of the Shelbys being the Forrest Gump of England delights me. I hope it never ends. I can’t wait until fifteen seasons from now when we learn how a Shelby finds himself in a bind with Thatcherism and is somehow roped into starting the Falklands War.

It was really jarring to hear a near perfect impression of Thomas Shelby in one scene followed by an Irish dude in the next

AlternativeRun5727Mar 27, 2026

It felt like he was trying to hone in on the gypsy accent (that he has heard in Ireland) as opposed to Birmingham. Wasn’t Duke brought up in that community instead of streets of Birmingham?

Oh no! He also butchered the Scouse accent in Black 47 and Saltburn and I’m sure his Ringo will be odd. Just let the guy be Irish, it’s less stressful!

Hes like the one international Irish male actor, who cant do non-Iridh accents. Murphy, mescal, Scott, Gleeson (brendan and Domhnall), Dornan, Neeson, branagh, brosnan and Farrell? Can all do non-Irish accents. Barry? He cant. Ironically, dornans Irish accent in wild mountain thyme sucked.

Duke started off with potential but the ball was dropped. Not enough runtime, that whole thread should've just been a season.

The movie was bad but the show was also rather bad at times.
When Polly is convinced to help Tommy out we get a cut to the both of them talking. I thought she was going to deliver some sage advice or give Tommy some information that he didn’t know.
Instead she tells him to vet his whores, find out what little finger really wants, and to only hire people he trusts. Are we to believe that by this point in the show Tommy doesn’t know to do all of those incredibly obvious things?

Does anybody know why the Movie did not follow after the end of s6? It ended on a cliffhanger, but they wanted to open a new Plot? I guess they wanted to introduce the son as a 2nd Protagonist to milk new spin off shows.
35
MattyzooksMar 27, 2026
+45
It didn't end on a cliffhanger so much as it had some unfinished plotlines and ended with Tommy finding out Mosley had tricked him into thinking he was dying (and thus getting him to kill himself). The problem is Oswald Mosley was a real person who died in 1980.
Add it with the fact that the always wanted Tommy in WWII.
What I find lame as hell is the movie just ignoring Tommy's brother Finn who swore revenge on Duke in the final episode of the show.
I also find their reasoning for no Alfie baggling in how they said there would be no organic way to include him. You couldn't find a way for the prominently Jewish Alfie to give input on Duke helping out the NAZIs during the Holocaust? Hell, it could've tightened the bond between Alfie's gang and the Roma.
45
ImnotsosureaboutthatMar 27, 2026
+12
>The problem is Oswald Mosley was a real person who died in 1980.
I don't think this is that much of a problem, I don't think audiences would have cared if Mosley was killed. Billy Kimber lived until 1945 but that didn't stop them from killing him off, though he's not nearly as big of a historical figure as Mosley.
I thought he was setup as a pretty good villain, I really wish that storyline was resolved in some way - he didn't even have to necessarily die, we could have just seen him fail and see that he falls into obscurity

Yeah its so weird looking back on the first two seasons, it was this stylish yet quaint little period piece. I shared it with with my grandparents and enjoyed recommending it to people. "Yeah the title is stupid but it's a really cool show, that creepy looking dude from Batman is in it and it turns out he's actually super charismatic."
Now it's just this bombastic self-parody that won't f****** die, and it's watched and loved by some of the stupidest motherfuckers on the planet. The badass slow-mo shots are encroaching into Zack Snyder Watchmen territory, where the visual glamour becomes childish and completely contradicts the messaging of the story.
Not to be arrogant, but do half the people watching Peaky Blinders even follow along with the politics and historical context? Like, I can't picture the type of guy who gets an undercut and considers Tommy to be a sigma male, knowing what shit like the IRA is.

I thought the movie was okay but it did suffer a lot from Tommy and Ada being the only major character left from the show. I was an enormous fan back in the early seasons but without *any* of the OG characters I definitely won't be watching this.

I loved the movie, and even though Barry Keoghan normally grates me I found him very tolerable in his supporting role as Duke.
This show as a sequel, with Barry Keoghan as the lead, is a TOUGH sell imo

I loved the show but honestly thought the film was a 1/10. The gypsy lady was a deus ex machina and super on the nose, the plot was ludicrous even for peaky blinders, and all characters personalities and motivations seemed removed from everything that’s come before.

The show took it too far killing EVERYONE. I found the Arthur death perplexing, the ADA death was just flat out awful, unnecessary and way too unceremonious. As a huge fan of that show I really think that movie did great harm to this brand. I just don’t understand why Knight and Murphy and everyone involved allowed it to come out so rushed and sloppy. I get ya wanna close the door on Tommy’s story but goddamn do it with some pride

It's actually not. The antagonists in the movie are literally Nazis. Nazis are literally a modern plague that we are currently experiencing. Many (if not most) of these Nazis have access to social media and just love to loudly voice their opinions and/or silence others.

I dont like the movie because none of seasons 6 cliffhangers were addressed, main characters were killed off screen, they really disgraced thomas' character by making him kill his brother, the villain wasn't intriguing, etc etc etc. Theres plenty of good reasons to not like the movie outside of sympathizing the nazi villain. This is common criticisms of most people I see who dont like the movie. Are there nazi sympathizers shitting on the movie for it, maybe probably but its not the overwhelming majority of people shitting on it. So pretending thats the case is ridiculous.
You blanketing all criticism as "everyone who dislikes the movie are nazis" is childish and shows how you really end up watering down the word to the point where when actual fascist are called out they can point to over-reactions of people like you to deflect the criticisms of their behavior as "just another snowflake liberal throwing the word around".
Only one with hurt feelings here is you not liking other people's opinions about the movie and literally name calling them.
2
MorwenRaevenMar 27, 2026

At no time did I ever say those words. We can all see my comments. You're constructing a straw man, and it's sad.
Putting words in my mouth is a pathetic way to perpetuate this argument that you have created.
You don't need to write a wall of text because someone said that Nazis are mad. Unless of course you took that personally.

Just like your last sentence your first post was obviously a implication. You wanna hide behind plausible deniability but anyone who can read between the lines knows what youre implying.
