Robert Pattinson is Scytale? That's crazy. 17 years? That tracks. Sidesteps some issues of the 12 year gap between Dune and Messiah. Also comes out a little ahead in the time line compared to the original work. The first dune book takes place over years. They compressed the time to avoid some of the more bizarre aspects even though they still included them somewhat. Like, in Dune Paul has a child, and his sister is born. Not the case for the movie version.

So ATJ who is 29 will be playing a ~16 year old Alia? Ok. Looks like her role will incorporate a good amount of Alia’s story from Children of Dune. Which would be a shame.

It’s a fair comment, if you haven’t read the book then nothing about the trailer lets you know Robert Pattinsons character is a shape shifter - I’d call that a spoiler.
