It will be just 2hrs of our main character trying to get through an imp infested dungeon dying over and over again. Keeps the budget low.

Cool, I didn't understand the story playing the game so hopefully I'll understand the story watching the movie.

It’s an A24 movie. I wouldn’t count on it.

That's a cool cast, especially some of the smaller roles like Nick Offerman, Jonathan Pryce and Peter Serafinowitz

I've loved him as death in the Discworld audiobooks, so I could see him being Margot who has a similar gravitas without quite so much yelling

Alex Garland‘s “Elden Ring” movie is landing in 2028 and it’s being shot for Imax.
The live-action adaptation of the hit fantasy video game from A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment is now in production, with release details and a full cast announced.
The film is set for release March 3 2028 with “Heartstopper” breakout Kit Connor, who was already rumored as reuniting with Garland following “Warfare”, now confirmed.
Connor will be joined by Ben Whishaw (“Black Doves,” “This is Going to Hurt”), Cailee Spaeny (“Alien: Romulus,””Civil War,” also from Garland), Tom Burke (“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” “Black Bag”) and Havana Rose Liu (“Tuner,” “Bottoms”). Other key casting additions include Sonoya Mizuno (“Ex Machina” and another former Garland collaborator), Jonathan Pryce (“The Two Popes,” “The Crown”), Ruby Cruz (“Bottoms,” “The Threesome”), Nick Offerman (“The Last of Us,” “Margo’s Got Money Troubles”), John Hodgkinson (“Dear England,” “Napoleon”), Jefferson Hall (“House of the Dragon,” “Oppenheimer”), Emma Laird (“28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” “A Haunting in Venice”) and Peter Serafinowicz (“Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace”).
Peter Rice is set to produce the film alongside Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA, as well as George R. R. Martin and Vince Gerardis.
One of the most critically-acclaimed video games ever made, the dark fantasy-action RPG debuted in 2022 and was developed under the direction of FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, based on a mythological story by Martin. It has since sold in excess of 30 million copies worldwide and received over 400 Game of the Year awards.
Garland is understood to have been a longtime fan of the game, and made a personal pitch to its publishers Bandai Namco and FromSoftware to bring it to screen.

I hope they use the story from the manga.

Maybe it's just me, but this feels like something that would do better as a series rather than a single movie?

Agreed, but maybe there was hesitancy to tie so many people to a series like GOT or others did. GOT cast weren’t super front actors/actresses with a few exceptions for them to be tied to a long schedule like that. Maybe we’ll just get the fracturing … which I’m here for if they do it right

I’m in the middle of playing this game (literally. I keep thinking I’m almost done but the progress meter is hopeless stuck at 50%.
I don’t see how this is going to be a successful adaptation.
The lore is both slight and vast, tough to do, and o don’t see how they can snip out things unless they just combine some characters.
