It’s like watching two Bond villains fight over who gets to own the laser that might accidentally destroy the moon. One wants to give the laser to everyone (Musk), and the other wants to lease it to Microsoft (Altman). The fact that Judge Rogers called it "billionaires versus billionaires" in a preliminary hearing really sums up the "NICE day" energy of this whole trial.

Open AI was a 501c3. Google (then Alphabet) was always a C corporation. To change your corporate structure is a fairly radical restructuring. Incredibly abusive by Altman. And I loathe Musk.

Musk has multiple interviews talking about the existential threat of climate change and the necessity of Tesla’s mission to basically save the world. So much for that….

I have a hard time believing Elon is really doing this because he truly wanted the venture to be altruistic. Is he just trying to cash in on the money the company is making? Asking for $100 billion in damages when he only invested $38 million sure makes it seem that way.

A motto is different than a stated goal. If your motto is "improving people's lives", I give you a million dollars and then you use it to kickstart a healthcare company, I can't complain. However, if you tell me you want money to research cancer, I give you a million dollars, and you do your healthcare company, I have a case there. You said my money was going to go towards a goal and it was a lie. Of course Musk's true intention is to boycott a competitor, but he has a case - whether a judge thinks that case is solid enough is a different issue, ofc.

I find it "ironic". Musk milks Tesla shareholders to buy companies like Twitter. Tesla shareholders don't receive anything in return. As they say, "what goes around....comes around". Edit: And the best part is that he is going to do it all over again with SpaceX IPO. That's why he wants part of the Nasdaq 100 and other indexes. ETFs and other funds will be forced to buy his overpriced SpaceX stock.

Well, they first created a for profit subsidy of the OpenAi Foundation. Then they spun that off into a PBC and gave the OpenAi foundation 26% ownership. What we currently call OpenAI did not start out as a non-profit. The non-profit still exists. Now, I do think this is all super slimy and shitty and that if I had my way I'd fire both into the sun, but what they did was technically legal. And Elon only cares because he created his own direct competitor after they refused to make him CEO.

erm, im no libertarian but part of libertarian philosophy is that governments have to enforce contracts. Like literally the sole duty of government is to enforce non-violence and make sure contracts work. contracts are sacred to libertarians and both are them are consistent in this regard
