Holy shit, ground scouring, trees debarked, and some homes have been slabbed, this things gonna be at least an Ef-4 once the surveys are done.

With the types of damage produced by this tornado I wouldn't be surprised if it's a high end EF-4 or even an EF-5. Its amazing that there have been no reported fatalities, but that could change unfortunately

Be wild if we ended up having 2 EF-5s in 2 years if it ends up being one. THe footage on the /r/tornado sub is WILD of this thing to.

Preliminary EF-4. Meaning at least an EF-4. Could still be an EF-5

Does not look like EF5 damage at least in the pictures in that article, not even particularly close to it

It stripped an entire neighborhood of homes to the slab foundations.

Montjo17 13 hr ago +3
But it didn't wipe any of those slabs clean. Compare that neighborhood imagine to, say, the Jarrell EF5

The linked story says it was ef3

They just upgraded it to an EF4.

The video clip was gnarly. Looked like some Wizard of Oz shit.

I just watched a couple on the tornado sub, that thing was huge

ActualNative 18 hr ago +2
They have, preliminarily, estimated the tornado to be 500 yards (1500ft) wide, and to have travelled about 9 miles.

Google says a nfl field is 53 yards wide… that tornado was definitely huge

It was!

Hope the taco truck made it unscathed, that was my favorite thing about Enid.

Liar, no one likes anything in Enid. It's like Northerm Lawton.

Nah, I got a fantastic queso birria taco from that truck.  I’ll admit that there wasn’t much else about the place that would bring me back though.

Oh yeah, the quesabirria is fantastic.

I hope the horses are ok too.

Not many horses in the area where it hit, might have been a few goats and beehives on the outskirts of gray ridge but almost every pet I’ve heard of made it through.

And when we say: Yee-ow! A-yip-i-o-ee-ay! We’re only sayin’, You’re doin’ fine, Oklahoma! Oklahoma, O.K.!

What do you mean? We know the risks, living here.

Gotta love a state that in its state song acknowledges they’re just ok. Just sorta mid, meh. Yeah. That’s Oklahoma on a good day.

Good luck with that fema funding.

it's a red state, and the reddest part of it. Trump will rush support to them using blue state tax dollars.

I escaped Oklahoma after 20+ years. Here's what will happen next: the politicians will make speeches about the "Oklahoma spirit" of strength, independence, and community. Behind the scenes, they will quietly petition the Federal government for the very same emergency funding that they campaign against. Okies won't realize that once again, they've been bailed out by the very federal government they despise, and will continue to vote against their own interests because they believe their own legends about how stalwart they are in the fight against "big government liberalism." Next year, another tornado will repeat this cycle.

Almost forgot: this time, they'll be totally perplexed that the guy they voted for [cut billions from FEMA](https://www.npr.org/2026/03/30/nx-s1-5753765/fema-trump-extreme-weather-rural-pennsylvania) and cut FEMA's staff, so they won't get through this with the federal aid they're used to. Now that it really WILL depend on their "Oklahoma gumption" to get through it, they'll suffer. And blame Biden, AOC, and immigrants.

Watching a chaser named Scott Peake get within 50 yds of that thing yesterday was wild.

Does being in a basement or underground guarantee your survival during an EF4 or 5 or are you still fucked?
1
PorkeChopps 14 hr ago +2
No one died, 10 injuries
2
theyoyomaster 9 hr ago +1
Almost no basements in the neighborhood that was hit but the vast majority had dedicated shelters.
1
Substantial-Ease567 7 hr ago +1
Unless the house collapses on you, you are safe underground.
