Er or new Amsterdam? Which one would you binge?

Posted by Yodathefrenchie

Watched the pitt, watched greys, watched scrubs and house, I like my medical dramas. Gonna leave this up for a vote for tonight and start either tomorrow. So er or new Amsterdam? Cheers 😁

er all the way, new amsterdam gets too preachy after first season. er has that raw 90s energy that just works better for binging plus the characters in er feel more real somehow, less perfect if you know what i mean

You’re really asking if you should enjoy more Noah wyle vs not enjoying more Noah wyle?

That was my one of my only reasons for watching it 😅 so didn't wanna get sucked into a long show if it wasn't worth it, even if I love noah wyle 😂

It really is the show that paved the way for the rest of the medical dramas. There were ones that came before it, but it set the tone for shows like the Pitt. Even without wyle or Clooney, it’s worth watching at least once

New Amsterdam seemed so far-fetched when I watched the promos.

New Amsterdam is terrible. I watched one season and I just couldn’t stomach any more. The lead character is incredibly annoying. ER is absolutely fantastic.

Consider St Denis medical as well. It's more of a sitcom, but I really loved it. It's like a crossover of superstore and scrubs

Who’s showing it? I wish more than one season had been released on disc.

Loved ER when I was a kid. I liked Ryan as "Tom" on The Blacklist but the only "New Amsterdam" show I ever watched was from 2008 with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as a New York homicide detective cursed with immortality. It reminded me of the show "Forever Knight" from the '90s about an 800 yr old vampire who is a cop in modern day Toronto.

ER stands up to the test of time. Totally binge worthy.

I **loved** that show, it was a shame that the writer's strike of 2008 killed it. But OP is obviously talking about the medical drama from 2018 starring Ryan Eggold.

Which is obviously why I linked to a different show.

Don't sleep on The Resident. Loved that one and it ended right when it should have. I loved The Pitt and do want to check out ER now. I was too young when it aired.

I recommend these Netflix documentaries [ Lenox Hill (2020): Follows four doctors at the NYC hospital, including a special episode on their experiences on the frontlines during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. • [Emergency NYC (2023): From the creators of Lenox Hill, this series features NYC trauma doctors and first responders, including some from the original series, handling high-intensity cases. • The Surgeon's Cut (2020): A docuseries profiling world-leading surgeons, with a focus on their personal lives and innovative techniques. • Diagnosis (2019): Follows patients with mysterious illnesses as they seek answers through crowdsourced diagnoses.
