Peter Hungarian.
Like Jonas Sweden or Hans German.
It’s funny but also somewhat symbolic that a man named Magyar is bringing Hungary to a closer relationship with the EU as a whole. There is a positive and prosperous time for Hungary on the horizon and I sincerely hope they will flourish in every way possible

Unfortunately it's been much more visible just how much of America supported and still supports Trump despite everything. The fact he got a second term too means the world's view of the average American will be stained for a long time... gonna need to see some very big numbers voting the other way and for more than one term before flipflopping back as Americans love to do because unless things become perfect those 4 years, they think it means they need to switch up government again... and that's why no dem govt is ever able to be empowered well enough to actually get positive changes done without republican cockblocking.

It seems so. The news about Ukraine slowly reclaiming ground and now this. I think it's truly over for Putin once USA chooses a dem again. The collapse of Russia will probably also bring about the collapse of the alt-right pipeline to a significant degree.

If the midterms yield a Dem majority in both the Senate and House, can the Dems start passing legislation, or could it just be vetoed by Trump? Could they restart weapons transfers to Ukraine too?
Or would a Dem majority Senate and House just work to turn Trump's presidency into a lame duck and prevent him doing anymore damage via legislation?

There won't be a supermajority in the Senate, so it's going to be lame f***.

It’d be vetoed by Trump. Even if enough gop join to override the veto the enforcement of laws rest entirely in the hands of the president so he could essentially ignore it if he really wanted to

No, if the president vetos a law it goes back to Congress, and if it passes with a 2/3 majority in the house and senate it becomes Law without the Presidents signature.
2
sumoraidenApr 23, 2026

I understand that. The execution of the law rests entirely in the hands of the president. Unless Congress is willing to impeach and remove him the president can ignore any law he wants

well if a super majority that can pass his veto forms for a bill, they would effectively have the power to impeach and convict him. the chances are however very slim of that ever happening.

Today the russian communists warned a revolution could happen. Perhaps this is Putin's new strategy to stay in power. Russia is reverting to a kind of Stalinist regime, and he is controlling the figurehead president from behind the scenes.

Sure. Even Trump getting involved with Iran helps Ukraine. Whether he meant it or not.
It's unreal that Listnook doesn't get Russia is allied with Iran and by extension Hamas and Hezb.
Since October 7th. Russia lost influence in Syria. And hopefully both Lebanon and Iran fold. The world will be a better place.
It's the 2nd front in this fiasco.

He lost the elections, his personal war with Ukraine is over, it was always about money, seems like he isn't that keen on moving to Russia after all so is trying to earn some goodwill, you know like all manipulative bullies and narcissist once their power over you is up they'll try to manipulate you into thinking that they are good they were always good

He's nominally still in office, but has agreed to follow Magyar's line, especially with respect to the EU veto.
I'm honestly amazed Orban's making good on that promise. I guess Putin didn't come through with the dacha next to Assad he was promised.

"Druzhba" pipeline blackmail is disgusting.
Russians destroyed the pipeline required to sell their own oil to EU and used their puppets Orban and Fico to blackmail Ukraine into fixing it by its own.

At the cost of repairing the Druzhba pipeline to continue the flow of crude oil from Russia to Hungary. That is what it cost Ukraine and listnook is celebrating it.

Yeah Ukraine has to repair the pipeline in Ukraine. But they blew up the Russian side of the pipeline the next day.

The previous government in Hungary refused to move them off Russian oil, it will take time for the new government to move on. Also Ukraine wants to fix the pipeline for Hungary, it will give the new government a political win encouraging them to keep going against Russia. Not everything is black and white.

I have a feeling that what 'listnook is celebrating' is A) the fact that a huge amount of aid is coming through for Ukraine at a crucial moment, combined with B) the fact that 'the flow of crude oil from Russia to Hungary' is currently *zero*, because they blew up the pipeline elsewhere.
Repairing that *one section* of the pipe was simply a sop to Magyar, showing that he could get cooperation in a matter of minutes that Orban the Cockwomble never could. They then blew it up elsewhere, and washed their hands.
It appears to have 'cost Ukraine' a couple of drones, a little shiftwork, and a bar of soap.

Where did you get the news about it getting damaged again?
You mean the thing with Kazahstan oil getting blocked?
Not sure how that's a win if it will just speed up the death of european industries.
Also not sure why people are hyping the loan thing so much.
Its not like it will immediately turn the money into weapons(especially considering how degraded are european arms manufacturers).
Most will probably get stolen by ukrainian and european bureaucrats anyway.
-3
ModronosApr 23, 2026
What in the Lords name are you on about? Degraded european arms manufacturers? The death of european industries? You do know many european countries have only gotten richer throughout the decades, and still are getting richer, right?

Decades?
Then why european factories have been closing for the past 4 years and moving to US/China? You know, things like BASF laying off workers to save up money, since profits dwindled.
Pretty sure that Audi and VW didn't close their european factories for fun either.
Well yes, europes MIC is more dead than alive.
How can you otherwise explain why european tanks went extinct in ukraine? Or why Europe is now only able to send mere 5 patriot missiles on occasion(not to mention how they no longer send SAM, to replace all of the destroyed ones)?
Or why europe begged the US to not abandon ukraine when trump came to the office?
