It's so relieving to see Hungarians heading to a brighter future. Orban has in a certain way been holding the EU hostage with his veto power. Now Hungary is again set to align with rest of Europe.

hate to ruin the mood but the country has almost ran out of strategic fuel reserves. economy is in shambles. tisza needs to make some unpopular decision but these likely affect the already poor population. fidesz set them up bad. if he doesn't make those unpopular decisions then economy will fail. add russia/iran oil problem. imho they won't stand a chance without EU financial support.

That's exactly why he is currently working as hard as he can on bringing back the EU funds that were held back. It will be a giant boost to our economy.

Tudom, de. Getting funds is one thing, spending them is another. IMho we definitely need IMF and/or other supervision for transparency to earn trust back.

And guess who is the cause of all these problems?

It does sound grim they way you put it, yes. But inevitably the future is brighter though than it would have been with Orban still at the wheel.

Maybe some of the funding and EU help will get to the people who need it. It can’t be a coincidence that Hungary is the poorest country in the EU.

definitely need IMF and other supervising bodies imho. EU already gave a shitton of funds to hungary in the last 15-20 years but fidesz stole it. and hate to say it but eu didn't care as long as orbán provided c**** labour for western corporations. not sure how eu funds could fix low wages, high prices, high unemployment and housing crisis together on the short term.

Which I think Europe will happily provide now that Putin no longer has a veto.

A, i have doubts, B, the new government has to spend the money right. there are tinfoil hat conspyracies that Tisza is plan B for fidesz. western european countries don't seem to understand the situation here. for exaplme, they think hungary is a c**** country when in fact it's more expensive (western prices, eastern salaries). europe will stagnate because automobile industry is steps behind anyone, hungary put most of the economy on car manufacture and chinese battery plants so there's that. orbán and putin are/were only one of the many variables in this bucket full of shit, commonly referred to as hungary.

you do realizie magyar is ex-fidesz? i'm not naive, i believe everthing after it happened.

Yes, I'm aware he's *ex*\-Fidesz. Does that somehow support the notion that Tisza was somehow Fidesz's plan B? You expect Tisza to *actually* turn out anti-EU and pro-Russia?

no. but no one ones what goes behind the curtains, what pacts have been made. look at fidesz-mszp pact (multiple), russian spies are still here, closets full of skeletons. putin did the same with medveded. tisza winning is fine and dandy but they have to put something on the table to prove themselves. not blocking the funds for ukraine further is one thing they did, one small step in the right direction.

So basically you have a conspiracy theory about Tisza being Fidesz in disguise, with nothing to support it but the fact that russia had Medvedev as a puppet? That's problematic as it's essentially spreading voter apathy and muddying the waters. "*It doesn't matter who you vote anyway, so might as well vote for the russian puppet, right? I mean, surely this new guy sucks too, right? I heard he's just as bad. Not saying anything, mind, just asking questions!*"

fyi, it's not my theory but imho it's naive to think that everything will change 180° direction when tisza hasn't done anything yet. it's a protest party. if economy was decent, orbán would've won again. so people voted against bad economy in the first place and for tisza in the second place. if you look at the last 15 years, 0 opposition party could emerge to challenge orbán then suddenly overnight a party emerges lead by an ex-fidesz guy and wins. fidesz becase far right but claim to be conservative/right. now tisza is the new conservative/right. as such, i don't expect miracles from them, not gonna fix poverty because that's normally what the left does.
