I am going to Peru in July and I really hope my flight won't be cancelled because of the orange turd on the other side of the world.

Already cancelled our plans to fly this year when the shooting started a month ago in Iran.
For anyone paying attention to the way oil markets work it was obvious what *could* happen if that lasted - it's not like the Iranian Gov was subtle, they've done exactly this *before*, it's not that things will get that bad but it's becoming more likely the longer it drags on.
Just another way that the Americans deciding to elect Mango Mussolini is f****** with the lives of everyone.

That is only true short/medium range.
For (very) long range carrying the extra fuel burns more fuel than an extra landing would add.
This is one of the reasons why the Middle East has/had such a thriving airline industry: they are pretty much in the middle for a lot of destinations between Europe and Asia making it a fuel efficient route.
