You mean; “Experts continue to shout the same advice as always into a howling wind of ignorance and quackery?”

I feel bad for those experts knowing their advice will be ignored by most of the world's idiots.

Haha, it's true, many people think they know more than those who are educated.

> The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge. - Isaac Asimov
He was talking specifically about the US but I live in a democracy that isn't the US and it still applies here.
I'm sure there is some hallowed country where the ignorant listen to the experts though, if anyone knows where that is I'll consider applying for a visa.

I'm sure they have their problems, but I've heard the Northern European nations and New Zealand are pretty reasonable places, politically.

We all did extremely well during covid in Aotearoa NZ but because we did so well ferals decided it wasn't as bad as it was and went full smooth brain anti vax and 'no government is going to tell me what to do' then basically bullied Jacinda out with r*** and death threats to her and her 3 year old daughter then ungrateful kiwis voted in a racist wannabe trump government. Now our economy is fucked, 2 thousand kiwis are leaving NZ a week for Australia and the ferals won't follow medical advice.Their disgusting behavior has made me ashamed to be a kiwi for the first time ever. Our next election is in November so I hope they get voted out.

Jesus, wow. I remember that she seemed to have left office rather abruptly, but I didn’t know she was being harassed like that. I’m also sorry that the USA is now a major exporter of hate that has infected your country as well. I promise there are still sane ppl here too and I hope that we will all get through these new dark ages swiftly.

We know it's not all of you and it must be so hard for you. I have lovely American friends that live here and they are sane too. Hopefully this government will be gone in November and yours is gone as soon as possible too. Jacinda lives in Australia now because its not safe for her or her daughter to come home yet and our government is blaming our fucked economy that they have caused on her. Unfortunately there are the same feral types in Australia who hate her too. It's heart breaking. Stay safe. Kia Kaha 💚

Imagine those people who are infected and start developing symptoms. What's the first place they will seek treatment? Most likely at their outpatient primary care office. Which are not equipped to manage these patients. They will just end up exposing more people.

You're right, we have to see it from that perspective

Bold of you to assume they will seek treatment. The previous outbreak had cases where sick people went to a party, and also to the funeral for their spouse who died from the same disease.

That's not how this virus spreads, thankfully

Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo, CEO of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, said during a press conference on Thursday that she believes the spread in the suspected cluster is through "respiratory material."
“About human to human transition, again, theoretically, both potential methods. People could have infected material on their hands. They could potentially transmit it that way," she said. "But we believe, at least from the outbreak in Argentina that occurred and was written up in the New England Journal several years ago, pre-pandemic, that it probably is transmitted through respiratory material, whether it's airborne, whether it's droplet, we don't really know."

It wasn’t the experts that was the problem. It was the idiots ignoring them. But I’m sure you’ll just take some animal dewormer and carry on with your day.

Honestly, it was both - the "experts" that only in rare cases where actual scholar experts, and of course the rest who didn't follow real advice.

I on the other hand who listened to what the experts actually said and ignored the media bullshit then happily took the vaccine think the experts were pretty amazing the entire way through and turning around a vaccine that fast was damn near miraculous.
But then I have weird ideas like thinking science and reason work and know enough that been an expert in one thing (which I am) doesn't mean I know anything about another thing approaching the level of an expert in that field never mind the consensus of experts.
Funny how two people can live through the same period and come out with completely different attitudes.

In a way they're right, I thought the vaccine would be ready in a maximum of 20 days
