Mm. You’d also have to believe in the justice system and the assurance of a fair trial. Then there’s the cost to consider.

And that even with a fair trial, a jury or two are able to convince the rest that you are guilty because they saw a bead of sweat on your brow, didn't like your tie, thought you slouched, etc.

So, all of the people President Biden preemptively pardoned must have been really guilty as they had not even been charged with a crime yet?
If you are offered a pardon and are able to skip the cost, time, and uncertainty of a trial, you do so. It is the same reason why most civil cases settle despite one or both sides being confident in their position. The only people that truly win are the attorneys.

It really just shows how badly we need to break the two party system. Sinema had even tried to run as an Independent previously but couldn't get traction, so she lied to be a Democrat and was the better choice between the two options.

Your timeline is off there, she actually was a progressive once upon a time. And she never really ran an elections where she pretended to be a Dem, she just became more and more of a sellout over time and became an Independent when it became obvious she was going to be Primaried by Dems who all hated her.
Tulsi Gabbard on the other hand 100% pretended to be a Dem.

Seriously, it's the brain damage.
I feel terrible for older people who have these strokes, turn into monsters and then are accused of having always "secretly" been terrible people. Brain damage absolutely changes people in ways beyond their control. It's incredibly common among the elderly.
Of course, I feel less bad for this guy, because he has power and he's hurting people. But I pity his wife, his kids and his staff, all of whom are reeling from this heel turn.

Fetterman held a black jogger at gunpoint way back in 2013. He was a big defender of the Clarion Coke works which routinely violates pollution laws and pays miniscule fines for it, plus recently had an explosion and killed several poeple. He sent his kids to the most expensive private school in Pittsburgh and was able to turn down his Braddock mayor salary because his extremely wealthy parents gave him money. When he quit being mayor to be Lieutenant Gov he suggested his wife take over his mayoral post without elections. He has a long history of driving extremely erratically. And less bad than everything else, but making your schtick "I wear shorts everywhere" is a middle school boy move.
I hated fetterman before it was cool, (mostly because of the coke works and jogger incident, which he didn't really apologize for or seem to think what he did was wrong). The signs were all there that he was extremely erratic and put his ego before everything. I voted against him in the primary even though his opponent was a boring centrist. I voted for him in the general election because the alternative was "Dr." F****** Oz.
And let's not pretend his wife didn't pose with him when he accepted that golden pager award from Netanyahu.

If you think that marrying an immigrant or person of color is some kind of indication of morality, you haven’t met nearly enough Conservatives.
In fact, marrying someone at a distinct societal disadvantage is actually something a lot of them look for in order to have someone dependent and subservient to them.
Not disputing your point that Fetterman flipped due to his brain damage, just saying that his marrying an immigrant is not a reliable indicator of anything.

>The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.
To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.
I half wonder if we should split Congress and the Senate into vote for one, the other is drawn by lot from the pool of registered voters.
One house of politicians, one house that’s essentially jury duty
Edit:
Hell, add a third house.
Leave Congress and the Senate alone, whatever the hell we name the new one has members drawn from the eligible voter pool, and either gos home after they vote one one bill (with the aid of videoconferencing and shit so you don’t have to fly people in and out of DC weekly), or you serve for one month.

My county Democratic Party only cares about how much money I can raise. They don't give a bloody f*** what my actual positions on the issues are unless I have a wealthy backer.

It is partially true...but not in a good way for them.
Republicans have long been the "Party over Country" type - and have been FAR better at rallying around whatever their current leadership tells them to. Their think tanks, talking point distribution, entire apparatus around being a single party narrative is well documented, and is super evident when you see both people like Lindsay Graham shill for stuff he previously said would be disastrous for the country, while simultaneously ANY Republican who falls out of line like Massie or MTG is a "RHINO" and is attacked and primaried, even if their voting record goes along with 98%+ of Republican initiatives.
On the other hand, Democrats have long tried to be the "big tent" party, appealing to both Moderates and Progressives (with a VERY SMALL dash of outright Leftists). Because of that, someone like Bernie Sanders, and Independent who caucuses with Dems but is truly more of a Leftist, has a VERY different platform than what the DNC publishes. That very well does lead to party in-fighting and struggles with messaging. It's the reason we had Hillary over Bernie in 2016.
But that's a good thing. You should WANT a party that has those discussions, that doesn't simply fall into line. That debates a robust set of options on issues and tries to find compromise to make things work.
We're seeing the end-state of that with the Republican party; Trump is their endgame, where being told to just stick to the talking points some think tank came up with is finally biting their asses, both locally and nationally. They are the dog that finally caught the car, and the tailpipe is starting to burn them.

By the standards of normal countries, the Democrats are not just a right wing party, but a far right party. They moved so far to the right, that the only place for the Republicans to go is Fascist.

Trump is such a hideously ugly person, it's hard to even look at him. He looks like he's halfway through an Animorphs transformation from human to naked mole rat.
One day I'll think about Trump for the last time. I won't know it at the time, but his image and his name will cross my mind, and then I'll forget about him forever. What a wonderful day that will be.

I’m running in Ventura, CA where the incumbent Republican has been in office since before COVID. The district has been so poorly managed fiscally that we are 2 years away from the State of California coming in and taking over our district due to insolvency. One of the richest coastal communities in California and our schools are almost insolvent. Make it make sense.

Surely there must be a great many places yearning for more evil and failure to be brought into their lives. Cities full of people who are tired of not being constantly lied to and threatened, and feel like it's about time that the supporters of child sex traffickers had more say in their local affairs. I bet that red wave is coming any day now to bring about the widespread human rights abuses and dedication to party-over-Americans that so many Americans have been hungering for.

POLITICO reported that "Democrats have flipped 28 Republican‑held state legislative seats… Republicans are at zero."
The assertion focuses narrowly on state legislative seat flips, not congressional races, governorships, or party switches, and compares outcomes in special and off‑year elections held since Trump’s election win.
The Ruling
fact check:
True.

They haven't flipped any seats but in predictable scripted fashion, they flipped Fetterman and Cueller who are now the new Manchin and Sinema. It's all rehearsed garbage until the people stand up and hold them accountable in ways that cannot be discussed.
