So there's a new movie in theaters right now that has a character sing a song while most of the movie she's pretty deathly serious about an existential event making up the backdrop of the plot (and coincidentally, the actor has had a similar type of singing scene in another film in the past).
There are a bunch of dramas or mostly dramatic movies where the protagonist or supporting character has a cathartic scene where they cover a song via karaoke or other environments. What are some of the best ones? (Not going to say the ones I know of so people can post the movies themselves).
The first one that comes to mind is probably Lost in Translation - that karaoke scene with Bill Murray singing "More Than This" is just perfect for showing how isolated he feels. Also love the scene in My Best Friend's Wedding where Julia Roberts absolutely butchers "I Say a Little Prayer" at karaoke, it's so awkward but works perfectly for her character's desperation
