What should the punishment be for federal employees that violate our Constitutional rights? A future U.S. president could detain and deport that person to a small African nation and, according to Republicans, it would be perfectly legal.

Fox isn't over the air broadcast and isn't subject to government oversight. The same is true of CNN but the right has decided the best way to shut them up is to buy them.  The stupid part is there will always be a market for other viewpoints. If you buy CNN in time Meidas or some other entity will rise and get those views instead.

The point is that those that don't realize CNN has "switched formats Ala a radio station" so to speak, won't immediately go find a new source. So you can, very slowly, change the narrative they see. Do it slow enough and you actually converted them. THAT'S the real goal. Fox didn't START OUT batshit crazy. They started normal-enough. Just like Sinclair bought up all the local news and then slowly started showing everyone more and more right-wing propaganda. Most people don't even realize now who owns their local news or that they're being led around by the nose yet again. Republicans, especially the ultrarich, are patient. What we're currently suffering under has been DECADES in the making. Fox was started "to insure another Watergate level event never happened" and they have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. There is an impeachable offense every other f****** DAY and 2/3 of the population is blissfully unaware either thru apathy or by actively being lied to. Buying CNN is to them, buying the brand with every intention of retaining the viewers WHILE changing the message- over time. And when CNN and every single oligarch-owned newspaper all get on-message we are truly fucked. They've had decades to perfect the process and now it's just rolling out to every source.

(It’s a lot) Now the FCC Chair threatens news broadcasts over war coverage they don’t like. Will anyone stand up for this? We are going to have abc news and MSNBC. That’s literally the only main channels that wont be owned by Trump loyalists.

Yes, all federal funding was taken away, in the middle of a budget I believe. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting shut down a few weeks ago. The stations are on their own now, with only what funding they can get from private donations. Which means the big cities will probably make it, but the rural stations probably won't.

In 2025, we became a fascist-starter country. We have two branches ceding most power to the Executive… an Executive that is doing whatever the hell it wants despite what laws say… and MAGA is openly planning to ruin the midterm elections. We have a few old school GOP left and a few true liberal/progressive Dems left who are resisting this in the courts and Congress. But not enough. SCOTUS is compromised, so no amount of liberal lower court judges matters right now. When midterms come, we’ll see how far MAGA conservatives push their fascist play for power. If they feel that they have enough of the media and that enough people won’t riot in response, they’ll openly ruin the election (ICE arresting citizens at the polls, millions purged from registries right before the election, and manipulation of vote counts), and that will be the end of American democracy.

Both, everyone was pretty much going with the government line of we're winning, we're pushing them back we got them on the ropes but there wasn't really Frontline reporting you'd report from bases or after an area was cleared. Then on the Tet holiday away from the front in a very safe city where all the reporters were hanging out in their hotels the Northern Vietnamese and Viet Cong launched a major offensive. Don't watch CNN or read the Washington post if they don't want to report the actual news. I am not up to date on everything out there, but I like stuff from Crooked Media; Pod Save, What a Day, Runaway Country and also podcast It Could Happen Here. Jon Stewart is still out there trying too with the Daily Show and the Weekly Show(his podcast)
