Ok, so a judge ruled that he violated the 1st Amendment, but it doesn’t bring back funding for them, rehire any of the people who’ve been fired from their jobs, or add it back to any broadcasts or anything
Also there’s no repercussions for him violating their rights or destroying valuable public resources

Larger cities have kept their viewers and listening audience... unfortunately, smaller stations have had to cut back...public giving is up ...for now

I think larger cities were still being privately funded, but the rural outposts in the middle of nowhere, and the small ultra poor towns where nobody has $$ to donate… well, they’re up shit creek

A lot of smaller stations for NPR are also funded through educational grants. They use the station for journalism and marketing education and internships, which are generally unpaid.
I helped developed shows for a rural town station in college. Great experience. Hopefully the more rural stations were able to stay minimally funded, but it probably affected the local shows which would have been replaced with larger national coverage.

I just hope they get the funding soon. While I understand why they have to do it, having my NOVA episodes interrupted by about 15 mins twice per episode to try and get me to buy a mug to help fund PBS is painful.

We get to decide the repercussions. You understand that right. Yeah right now we can’t seem to collectively put that together. But it’s the truth.
No one has to be let off the hook. Just like they can arbitrarily decide whatever the f*** they want and nothing seems to matter or stop them, so we can too operate with such impunity.
What can be done with a group of people so out of control EXCEPT for an equal response.
We need only decide it and it will be so.

His point is that if we had a functional legal system, things would be reset to the way they were. If it was unconstitutional to pull their funding, why does that finding not reinstate funding? In normal courts, if someone was found to be illegally fired, they are reinstated. Why does the same not apply here?

A judge says President Trump violated the First Amendment with his executive order targeting the two media organizations’ funding.

Good move by the judge, moves like that can’t just happen unchecked. NPR and PBS are public services, not political tools.

We've never had a throne for him to retake, that's kinda the whole point of why and how our country was founded in the first place. Not having a throne has treated us relatively well for our existence.
He created the throne and is killing everything the country was founded on since.
And it's utter bullshit.

It took nearly a year for this decision.
They will appeal it - no question.
Years for a resolution - this won't be fast-tracked, especially when so many other things desperately need fast-tracked.
PBS and NPR will ultimately prevail, because Trump is an idiot that says the quiet part out loud over and over again, but like so many victims of this administration, those that were laid off or fired can never be made even close to whole.

The administration isn’t going to release the funding just because a court order compels them too. There’s a criminal organization running the White House, they no longer play by the rules that have been “normal” for centuries.

I don’t want to ever read “delivers massive blow to Trump” again unless a person or object swings into his head, knocking him physically off his feet. Because politically, it doesn’t seem like he cares about massive blows, unless it’s a little girl around his ankles.

It didn't save anything because the Corporation for Public Broadcasting dissolved already thanks to Trump and Congress
> The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which oversaw the federal funding for PBS and NPR, was forced to close after Congress eliminated federal appropriations for the public outlets.
>
> The Trump administration will likely appeal the ruling, and it’s not clear how or if Congress will resume funding for PBS and NPR
