She already has experience portraying a mother whose actions caused her son(s) to die.

Did she have any sons as MaMa in Dredd?
54
REkTeR Mar 27, 2026 +64
If you don't know the answer to that question, then it must be time to rewatch Dredd.
64
FiTZnMiCK Mar 27, 2026 +42
Then it’s a trick question because it’s always time to rewatch Dredd.

Shit I’d support crowdfunding one at this point

Also it won't tell you in Dredd. So you still won't know, so you'll just have to watch it again.

Nope. In fact, even if she did, Ma-Ma would have gladly thrown them under the bus to control the tower.

The drug business is like her sons

How can you be the leader of the mama clan without kids?

Cersei is like a dark reflection of Sarah Conner lol

Arguably her daughter, too, since she enlisted the Mountain to fight Oberyn without realizing he can't protect Marcella if he's dead.

She played Sarah Connor in the Terminator TV series too. A character in an entire franchise about time-traveling cyborgs trying to kill her son.

Watch the trailer, y’all. This isn’t a message film about domestic gun control. It’s about how shady actors in military-industrial complex make money selling weapons to all sides, including groups that want to attack the U.S.

Holy shit, thanks for that memory! Haven't even thought of that film in decades. My brother and I saw the trailer together, can't remember if it was in the theater or not, but we both were laughing hysterically at how horrible it looked. So, was it bad? I never got further than the trailer.

4
UrguthaForka Mar 27, 2026 +306
Like, she personally made it? At some boutique guns n ammo place? Because I suspect things like bullets are mass produced on a robotic assembly line.
306
AlstottsNeckGuard Mar 27, 2026 +221
You can watch the trailer, they are. She just works at the factory it was made and obviously all factories have quality inspectors, so she does that.

alfooboboao Mar 27, 2026 +148
watch the trailer? you’re in the wrong place, buddy. we don’t actually watch the trailer or read the article here
148
flyvehest Mar 27, 2026 +40
With how trailers are cut these days, I fully understand why people skip watching them. Its nice not knowing 80% of the plot-twists prior to going to the cinema.
40
Couthster Mar 27, 2026 +11
Yeah I actively avoid them and it’s been a pleasure just going into a film mostly blind.
11
entropyfan1 Mar 27, 2026 +6
The best experience is going in blind imo. Nowadays, the trailers give away the best moments & spoil way too much.
6
UrguthaForka Mar 27, 2026 +9
I never watch trailers anymore if I can help it. And I try to avoid reading anything that might give movies or tv shows away.
9
flyvehest Mar 27, 2026 +2
I've generally found that the first posted teaser, normally no longer than a minute, is good to gauge the vibe of the movie, but I've stopped watching anything further than that.
2
SuperHooligan Mar 27, 2026 +1
Thats how you know the film is going to be bad. If the trailer is just good and doesnt show the entire story, its probably going to be a good flick.
1
AlstottsNeckGuard Mar 27, 2026 +1
I definitely agree, but based on the synopsis I highly doubt I was going to be unable to predict the plot regardless

They are. Just the factory about 30 min from me makes Literally millions per day. It's social commentary film gonna have to suspend disbelief Guys stop yelling at me for a shitty script I didn't write it.
144
Prudent-Air1922 Mar 27, 2026 +161
I'm pretty sure "made the bullet" is supposed to mean "works at the factory". "A mother who works at a bullet manufacturing company finds out her son was killed by a bullet made at the factory" doesn't really roll off the tongue lol
161
CPTherptyderp Mar 27, 2026
I'm sure you're right but I was answering a specific question
0
Prudent-Air1922 Mar 27, 2026 +15
You ended with saying we'll have to suspend disbelief, so I'm not sure what you mean.
15
OPMajoradidas Mar 27, 2026 +35
I'd rather watch if it was a cheeseburger than a bullet. The mom who sold her kid diabetes
35
CPTherptyderp Mar 27, 2026 +28
That happens every day no one cares
28
Dottsterisk Mar 27, 2026 -1
It’s the difference between self-inflicted harm and violence against others. The latter is a more immediate societal problem.
-1
UrguthaForka Mar 27, 2026 +6
Or, the kid is eating a cheeseburger that she made, and then as she's making a bullet, she accidentally scrapes some metals together and makes a spark that ignites the gunpowder, firing the bullet, and the kid freaks out and chokes to death on the cheeseburger. Quentin Tarantino could direct.
6
CPTherptyderp Mar 27, 2026 +8
> eating a ROYALE WITH CHEESE
8
UrguthaForka Mar 27, 2026 +2
Only if they film in France
2

The Diabeetus Kid
1
Moeroboros Mar 27, 2026 +3
Social commentary absolutely should not require suspension of disbelief lmao
3
UrguthaForka Mar 27, 2026 +5
I can suspend disbelief. Though it would be even more interesting if she really did hand-craft the bullet that was then used to kill her kid. That'd mess with your sanity.
5
CPTherptyderp Mar 27, 2026 +4
It would be way easier and a more believable plot if she was a bartender who poured the drink of the guy who drunk drove and killed her son. But they didn't choose that. They wrote something specific.
4
Discount_Extra Mar 28, 2026 +1
I knew of a father that did that. Single vehicle accident after a family party, driver and victim the same person. Initially arrested for serving an underaged person, but case got dropped since parents can serve their own kids here.
1
warblade7 Mar 27, 2026
I’m gonna have to suspend belief too
0
machine1979 Mar 27, 2026 +27
That's the twist. She's a robot.
27
cheeks-the-geek Mar 27, 2026 +5
Shhhhh It’s a sequel to Sarah Connor Chronicles.
5
UrguthaForka Mar 27, 2026 +2
I'd watch that
2
7tenths Mar 27, 2026 +84
I wish we could blink cinemesins and everyone who watched it out of existence.  It's not that complicated. You can't grasp how someone would feel guilt if a bullet manufactured at the plant they work at was then used to kill their son?  Its a movie not a documentary.
84
Dr_Oatker Mar 27, 2026 +44
But, hear me out, what if we ignore character, emotions, drama, plot, artistic intent and basic storytelling and just make film criticism in to noticing plot holes?
44
mixedmartialmarks Mar 27, 2026 +16
And let’s take it a step further and start labeling every small thing we didn’t enjoy in a movie a plot hole. Minor continuity error? Plothole. Bad casting? Plothole. Unrealistic dialogue? That’s a plothole.
16
Vandrel Mar 27, 2026 +5
Don't forget a lack of knowledge of existing lore, that now counts as a plothole too.
5
UrguthaForka Mar 27, 2026 +1
I'm not criticizing the movie, it would just be interesting if she literally DID make the bullet herself.
1
The_Best_Yak_Ever Mar 27, 2026 +10
Yeah, they are. I'm curious how they portray that. Because ammunition manufacturers tend to produce lots of ammo through largely automated means. There are some great videos on youtube showing you how its done. Igman, from Turkey was a good one.
10
Charlottizen Mar 27, 2026 +10
Wow you are so smart
10
minotaur05 Mar 27, 2026 +2
Bullets are mass produced, although you can cast them yourself at home with a mold and the right tools. Will not be a quick or easy process, but you can do it
2
UrguthaForka Mar 27, 2026 +3
Yeah, my dad used to make his own bullets. Minie balls, actually. He collected US Civil War muskets and would cast his own ammunition.
3
foolishbullshittery Mar 27, 2026 +6
Yep, it was a special bullet with poison, in case the shot wasn't fatal by itself. She used the same poison that killed Joffrey.
6
ScanianTiger Mar 27, 2026 +3
This is a movie though.
3
DistilledCLP Mar 27, 2026 +4
Maybe she reloads specialty ammo and sells it on Facebook marketplace to hunters and collectors who need obscure straight walled cartridges... No wait, that would actually be better than whatever film this will be.
4
Turbulent_Crow7164 Mar 27, 2026 +3
Maybe she... designed it? Idk even that would be a team of engineers.
3
PensiveKittyIsTired Mar 27, 2026 +2
I think the point is that she finds out America is selling ammunition to “the enemy”, hence her American soldier son was killed by “the enemy”, but with an American bullet… or something like that… I mean, this is a known fact, countries profit from war. The whole “enemy” bullshit is to get soldiers to sign up as cannon fodder for making lots of money for all sorts of people and countries.
2
UrguthaForka Mar 27, 2026 +2
Ah... that is kind of interesting.
2
Karate_Scotty Mar 27, 2026 +1
You must be fun at parties
1
madasfire Mar 27, 2026 +1
Some of the bullets from the movie theatre shooting in Colorado were made in the back of a [tailor](https://insideofknoxville.com/2013/11/guns-ammo-and-the-center-city/) in Knoxville, TN. They're now in a larger facility.

I'm just saying that if you immediately dismiss a movie because of a single sentence, you're going to miss out on a lot of movies. >That single sentence was selected for marketing purposes That doesn't really matter though imo, a single sentence can't accurately describe the depth of a movie even if it was for marketing. >You do understand that, correct? You do understand that it's okay to have discussions online without being unnecessarily derogatory? There is no need to talk to me like I am an idiot simply because I disagree with you.

The trailer is so stupid. The number of blatant mistakes is shocking for a character who supposedly is experienced with guns. This is at best going to be a B level movie. I am shocked at how bad the trailer is...
80
SovietRobot Mar 27, 2026 +67
But she’s not experienced with guns. She’s just an assembly line worker at an ammo factory. It doesn’t mean any of them know anything about guns.
67

Don’t leave us hanging! What are the mistakes?

3
SacredHaert Mar 27, 2026 +20
I think you two are missing the point of the movie. John Wick is about realism in gun fights and how to handle them properly. This movie is a mom who does quality assurance for an ammunition manufacturer whose son is murdered/killed by her products. And her dealing with that. Feeling responsible but also not. The filmmakers probably spent time and energy and money on ensuring their vision came to life and little on the minutia of guns that only a few people who aren't going to go to this movie feel.
20
Vectorman1989 Mar 27, 2026 +61
>John Wick is about realism in gun fights Like when they have a suppressed gunfight in a crowded area without anyone noticing them shooting at each other?
61
N8CCRG Mar 27, 2026 +9
Or like when Wick covers his face with his bulletproof suit jacket and the bullets harmlessly ricochet off of it.
9
FassyDriver Mar 27, 2026 +35
\- John Wick \- Realism pick one
35
N8CCRG Mar 27, 2026 +2
And the fact that the internet blindly adores John Wick despite its ridiculousness, while then trying to dismiss this movie over alleged nitpicks, seems to stand out even more as a bizarre/contrived reaction.
2
CrispyHoneyBeef Mar 27, 2026 +7
It’s pretty embarrassing to make a whole movie criticizing something and make no effort to understand the thing you’re criticizing.
7
Alive_Ice7937 Mar 27, 2026 +6
Like that Richard Jewell that made the bizarre decision to take creative liberties with the portrayal of a dead reporter implying that she had slept with people to gain information.
6
d3ath222 Mar 27, 2026 +46
Next: Driven - Auto manufacturer makes car that someone used to run over her son. Later: Uncorked - Wine producer finds out she made bottle of Rose that instigated the three-way which gave her herpes.
46
chainsawx72 Mar 27, 2026 +15
A water-treatment employee finds out she cleaned the water that was used to drown her child.
15
Heisenripbauer Mar 27, 2026 +2
wow the car AND wine analogy? surprised you didn’t whip out the knife analogy too from the somebody-implied-something-negative-about-guns playbook
2
d3ath222 Mar 27, 2026 -2
Finally: Dairy farmer learns she produced cheese that gave her son a heart attack. Do you have an argument against the underlying logic of the point to contribute? The blame is being misattributed to an inanimate object rather than the agents who chose to use\abuse it, which makes the premise silly. Maybe if she raised an overprotective kid who murdered someone in "defense" of their sibling, despite there being no real threat, that would be compelling?
-2
Dottsterisk Mar 27, 2026 +7
Do you really not understand why those analogies fail?

6
Moeroboros Mar 27, 2026 +4
This sounds like the plot of a fictional movie that the Simpsons would mention as a parody of Eastern-European independent cinema. The fact that it's meant to be an "action-thriller" and not a serious drama makes it sound even more stupid. Lmao

2

7

The sequel is she later starts a new job at an auto to factory to find out she made the vehicle that a drunk driver used to run over and kill her other son.
6
DrProfSrRyan Mar 27, 2026 +2
In the third movie, terrified her next job will lead to the death of her third son, she takes up work at a mattress store. Only to find out, it was a front for the mafia who killed her son.

3

Come on, Lena. Is seriously no one helping her pick projects? No one on her team thought: “Hold on a minute, this premise sounds like tripe.” For her literal star turn performance in GoT as Cersei, she has done nothing but squander that potential after the fact.
3
dennythedinosaur Mar 27, 2026 +2
Not that she isn't talented, but she has always been sort of a B-List actress. Headey is the person you hire if Kate Beckinsale turns the movie down. And Kate Beckinsale is also stuck doing straight to VOD action movies.

I mean even before finding out, you'd think she would have already felt responsible. But Either way that bullet would have been made on that day at that time and gotten into the hands of the person that did it. Wait, did I just give away the finish?

I surely hope this means the title has multiple meanings. Like, perhaps, the mother in question uses another variety of ballistics upon her former employer? I'm a fan of the concept of thermonuclear ballistics

Curious to see how she finds that out. You’d have to identify the chemical composition of the bullet just to find out the country it came from

As someone who works for an ammunition manufacturing company. This is the single most unbelievable premise I've heard in my f****** life.

Lena headey in an action flick? I'm in. Plot sounds brutal.

The last movie with the title 'Ballistic(s)' made Rotten Tomato history.

The tagline should be, "What are the odds?"

I find it amusing that Hollywood is supposedly anti-right to bear arms, but more movie posters have guns on them than without.

That's most definitely far from true, and also, what a dumb point to make anyway. I enjoy playing GTA, I enjoy doing random shit and killing people in the game. Doesn't mean I endorse this in real life or that I don't think your country has a huge gun problem. Just like I enjoy John Wick movies without thinking "damn I'd love to have weapons".

The whole concept is so mind numbingly stupid it's hard to imagine anyone approving spending a dime to make it. The only thing that would tie the round to a particular manufacturer is the casing, and I don't think anyone would run around trying to find that while being shot at for no apparent reason whatever. And then the notion that she would somehow trace it back to her plant and her work specifically is just ludicrous. The whole thing is just silly.

The movie is about military hardware, not domestic gun violence.
